Depends on who at heavyweight you consider average in the power department. I mean many people consider Fury to have ‘average’ power but I sure as hell wouldn’t say Artur hits as hard as 270lb 6’9 Fury! :D

I’d say Artur hits as hard as SOME professional heavyweights both current and past. But not as hard as todays average Heavyweight.

Monte Barrett, Chris Byrd, Michael Spinks… yeah Beterbiev hits a little harder than them imo. I think he hits about as hard as 220lb Usyk today.

But Fury, Gassiev, Joyce and guys like that… nah. Lol

Literally average HW boxer, i.e. as many pro HWs hit harder than them, as not? Yes, would be my guess.

Average world class and/or well known HW? My guess would be no.

There are tons of HW journeyman or so-called tomato cans, so yes.

As one poster above pointed out, he wouldn't hit as hard as the average top 20 heavyweight, although I'd still say he hits harder than some of them.

He's a BETTER puncher than most of them - technique wise - so he would hit hard enough to get their respect.

Berterbiev catches people off guard he clearly hits oddly hard for his weight. He times his punches and places them in nasty places also especially the body. The punches that he throws don't look powerful but they are.

Fury can also throws awkward hidden well placed shots which will hurt anyone.

A solar plexus shot from Fury will take your life soul.

Nah it’s not possible. The average heavyweight is just too big. Science make it’s almost impossible for Arthur to hit harder.

I believe he hits harder than Usyk, Hunter, Sanchez, Fury and Parker.

After seeing what's happened to Marcus Browne, I say yes.

Browne's face was reconstructed. I don't see such things in heavyweight fights.

Let's listen from a first hand witness:

outside the top say 100 - IMO yes. obviously yes outside the top say 1000 [by which time you're getting down to very occasional borderline 'professionals'.

within the top say 10 - certainly not.

inbetween those two ranges - hard to say.

and the answer might well be different for jab/cross/hook/uppercut etc.

Thing about power is you either got it or you don't. So in my opinion you could even find some of the middleweight fighters who were gifted with extremely heavy handed power and they will punch harder than some of the heavyweights who weren't born with those same gifts. Technique and weight do play a part though so the lower weight you go the less likely you'll find fighters who can negate that much weight disadvantage in terms of power generation. With Beterbiev coming in at 190lbs on fight night i definitely think he can punch harder than some of the heavyweights
