Does beating unified champion without being mandatory challenger make you the new unified champion?

    I was wondering if you fight a unified champion but are not the mandatory challenger do you win all belts from the fighter? And is it possible to fight a unified champion without being a no. 1 contender?

    Yes it is. Example is Andy Ruiz Jr against Anthony Joshua.

    In a none title fight you can beat a 5 belt unified champion and yet not even become the lineal champion (cause the 5 belt guy wasn't the lineal champ either).
