No he doesn't. But he was a much bigger puncher/better stamina coming up and in his early reign as middleweight champ.

 

At the world-class level, he clearly doesn't. He can hurt guys and occassionally drop them with single shots, but not take them out completely.

 

In his early days he was considered a ko artist but as soon as he moved onto the world class stage it has not been the case. Could be because of the opposition or could be because he has changed to a more safety first style of fighting.

DLH at the time was still a top-notch fighter, but certainly not a top-notch middleweight, or really any kind of middleweight.

 

A liver shot is a far different matter. I'd say he has power, even one punch knockDOWN power when you add in the good eye for an opportunistic shot but he isn't laying great fighters out with one headshot, no. But really, there aren't that many fighters who can really lay a top notch guy out with one shot and have proved it more than a few times. A true 10 of 10 puncher is hard to find.

Yeah, but Oscar's head was hard enough for middleweight. And really, anybody can be put down and out by a liver shot and I call BS on anybody that says otherwise.

 

I don't think he necessarily hit harder when he was younger, he just put his punches together a lot more then and commited to his powershots more. Because as you said his stamina was better.

I'll give you that he does have above average power considering he can drop and hurt fighters with single shots. Definitely not a great puncher, so I guess that means his power rates as good.

 

No he is not. But with enough accumilation and punishment it's possible.

The accumilation he put on Tito was brutal, and that last right hand put him out and that finished the fight.
