In your opinion, is there any possibility of The American Psycho winning this fight?

Would you bet your house on Anderson winning?

Just for interest's sake, the three biggest underdogs in UFC title fight history (apparently) are:

    * Stefan Bonnar vs Anderson Silva

    * Matt Serra vs Georges St Pierre (Serra won by knockout)

    * Vitor Belfort vs Jon Jones (Belfort came so, SO close to a quick submission win. So close that almost a month later, Jones is still waiting for a second opinion on just how damaged his elbow is)

Worth noting, perhaps, that of those three underdogs, Bonnar is the only one who enters the cage as either the bigger or the younger man. :smoke

His only practical chance is to drag it to the mat and try to smother Anderson using his size and positional BJJ skill. Try to grind out two rounds.

Or maybe Anderson will twist his ankle or something. Maybe he will step the wrong way, and blow out a knee. Of course there is a chance that Bonnar wins, but it is incredibly small.

That's what I think Bonnar should do as well. First two rounds, drag Anderson to the ground. Gain top control. Fitch him as much as possible. Rough him up Sonnen-style with punches and short elbows. Use the size and strength advantage. Tire him out with the weight advantage. Avoid engaging with him on the feet. Dive on a limb if he leaves one out. That's the first two rounds.

Third round, try to survive for 5 minutes.

Always that chance. But barring freak injury, I still think there's a path to victory for Bonnar. It's just that it's a very narrow path, twisting and full of treacherous rocks, with a terrible fall on both sides.

he does if he can take silva down. I believe Silva will be the first to TKO bonnar is he doesn't take it to the ground. It would be awesome if bonnar wins :happy

It's MMA. Everyone has a chance. Still, I'd say Bonnar's chances are about 1/50. It would take a freak punch or an Anderson Silva injury for him to win this fight. He's not going to outbang Silva, he's not going to sub him, and he's not going to win a decision. Fluke knockout or bust for Bonnar, and he's not that big of a puncher. So...best of luck to him.

He has no chance at all.. 0% chance of winning. It's like a little girl fighting her big strong daddy!

That said, Bonnar will give it his all. TKO 2 Silva

I don't see how bonnar will win, Silva's chin is solid even if he happens to get "caught" with a punch...and Bonnars ground game is solid but Silva has good defense on the ground even if Bonnar can get him there.

All of this is true.

But Bonnar has a little bit of Rocky about him! :bbb

I mean, if Anderson scheduled this fight in preference to a title defence, I wouldn't be happy with it. :bart

But for him to step in at short notice to save a card in his homeland, when he wasn't planning to fight again this year? Sweet! :thumbsup

You cant have to much hope on Bonnars chin when Silva KOs people left and right.
He KOd Cheal who has never been KOd before that same with Vitor Belfort he was never cleanly KOd either and Marquardt has never been KOd aside from Silva if memory serves me right

+ Leben. And Fryklund. Probably some more.

Bonnar has very little chance at all. Would Spider win 20 out 20? Probably.

I give him a 25% chance...On his size and over all great chin. We do know that Bonner at one point was close to being cut a few years ago. He did take everything a YOUNG JJ hit him with and keep coming. Like many have said, Bonner only chance is to bring "The Spider" into his game and try to ground and pound him. In the End I won't put my money on it unless but think it's going to be a fun fight.
