I have a sweet tooth too... what I try to do is eat fruits and other sources of sugar that are better. Try plain yogurt, granola, strawberries and real grade A Canadian Maple syrup (put the Aunt Jamima away) some day for breakfast. Its got the sugar intake you crave and its rocket fuel.

Or drink smoothies. Your body needs sugar and thats a fact. When your body craves sugar, your mind often tells you to soothe this with candy. Try training yourself to eat better sugars. Its worked for me.

Well if it does, then there's a few ESB members I'm thinking of who should consider taking up boxing. :D

I fully believe that the confidence people get from boxing is not of the variety of kicking someones ass or knowing you can fight, although this is an added benefit of boxing.

But rather its about accountability to yourself. Be accountable in the gym, and you will see it spill into your life in other areas.

I'm going to try it starting today after me a my fiance goes to the store :good It's funny because I was watching Haye's last fight the British version. He was talking about how he ate good fish and organic foods. I really want to try it

That's it. The same can be said about most sports or about the simple fact of being in good physical shape.

being in shape is a state of mind but being able to defend yourself - with confidence AND being in shape - pushes that to the next level.

Would boxing also take away the anxiety a person usually gets while in a fight?

Not everyone can be cut like James Toney, but people have to have reasonable and reachable expectations...

Just my .02$ about being in the gym with all types of people over the years-- the guys who come to the gym with the primary objective of learning how to fight are usually dicks and often suck at fighting anyway. They don't spar properly, they don't understand the meaning of moving around or getting in work because their little minds can't wrap around the concept of losing a round and not being able to project a certain image to others..

The guys who want to box, to test themselves, have the most confidence, are the nicest guys outside of the gym, and the best fighters.

If you spend enough time in the gym, you can usually tell these types immediately when they enter.

I think you mean the anxiety before a fight, which is natural because you know consciously that you're about to get off your tits and go berko and your brain is producing chemicals as a result of that knowledge that create a state of "anxiety"

    No.

It will get you accostomed to being hit and dealing with the emotions during a fight though, and more importantly you probably won't be fighting as much anyways.

Yes, I mean before a fight. I don't like confontations and rather avoid them because they make me nervous. But sometimes you have to defend yourself against jerks ya know?

Its more of a feeling of Anxiety instead of fear right before you fight too. Its a very annoying feeling lol.
