I think boxing usually favors the tall guys with long arms that are naturally light and can fight at lower weight divisions. Of course this is not always the case but it usually is that is why many naturally bigger guys have to cut/dehydrate excessively in order to compete. Sometimes to unhealthy cases. For a example i am 5"10 1/2. Boxers my height usually belong in the 154/160 weight division. While in MMA fighters my height usually fight in the 170 lbs and are noticeably muscular.

BTW i am not trying to compare the two against each other just making observations.

I love both sports its just something that i noticed.

If i were to compare them to other sports i would say that boxing compares to marathon runners in that they need a very high amount of endurance and need to need to be light and cut and not be muscular which will slow them down. While MMA is more like sprinting in that they are both muscular and need to have explosive power.

Do boxers cut more weight than MMA fighters? Ive noticed many boxers look weak during weight ins while in fight day they look ripped and cut. While MMA fighters look ripped and cut at weight ins and at fight day they look more muscular and stocky.

    Just my observations

It depends. That's considered to be the "classic build" for boxers. It guarantees nothing, however.

wrestling requires more physical strength otherwise they would injure themselves anytime they pick up their opponents.

MMA fighters have different physiques because they train differently. Like already suggested the training involves lifting other people and things in more specific movement patterns.

Ectomorph can train boxing and still look like an ectomorph. However train MMA or wrestling and they may take on more of an ect-mesomorphic appearance due to the wider range of training and exercises to develope those skills.

I get the logic of the tall advantage for the lower weight classes in boxing. But I think the lower weight boxers are in between mesomorphs and ectomorphs. We see a lot mma fighters with amazing striking abilities as meso-ectomoprhs in the beginning too like Aldo, anthony pettis, Anderson silva, Edson Barboza, and Bone Jones. Now the muscular guys like Mendes, Faber, Phil Davis, Chris Weildman, ryan bader, Lesnar, and Johnny Hendrix all came from a wrestling base. MMA guys have to train to overpower each other because of the grappling aspect and that builds muscle and you have to train for muscle to do that

But if we go and look at the cruiser weight and the heavy weight division, most of them guys have a solid build like the klits, luis ortiz, David Hayes, early Foreman, Tyson, Holyfield, Lennox Lewis, Earnie Shavers, Shannon Briggs etc... The only Heavy weight i see that's tall and skinny is Wilder.

There might be a confusion with weight classes, whereas welterweight for mma are 170 lb and boxing is at 147lb (which means Floyd, Canelo, kirkland, cotto should be fighting at light weight for ufc). The guys that are muscular looking and strong are usually the guys that are undersized for that weight class like Johnny Hendrix who's 5'9 (in a weight class that averages 5'11"-6'0 ft).
