Boxrec says there are 23,000 active male pro boxers.

Average career length say 15 years?

    23,000 / 15 = 1,500 boxers retiring every year.

    22 inductees every year from 1,500 retirees = 1.5%

So only the top 1.5% of boxers end up in the Hall of Fame. Seems entirely reasonable to me.

The hall of fame building itself is significantly smaller than MLB, NBA, NFL, College Football, and NHL.

My own opinion of what the boxing hall of fame criteria should be for is people like Emmanuel Augustus, a real FIGHTER.!! His motto was Fight anyone, anywhere ,anytime just give me the time to get there. He sadly just never took himself seriously , he didn't realize just how good he really was & what he could have been. His modest record is inundated with blatant robberies with decisions stolen from him He really just loved to fight
Fighters that came up the hard way, got there after starting from nothing. I have no respect for the Divas, as I call them , like Floyd, Canelo etc who would not be where they are without the 'help" given to them along the way I remember Buck Smith saying one night in Ft Worth that he'd fought TWICE in one night. Once as himself & later as someone else ,who didn't show up, & won both by KO. He joked I ate well that week lol

I think Bradley deserves the hall of fame. He's got a pretty good resume.

And to think people a short while ago were arguing if Chris Byrd was HOF worthy or not.

I'd say darts has the worst HOF of all sports. You can go down the entire list and not find a single athlete, that's bad

Depends what you mean by worse. The MLB has an extremely strict hall of fame. Extremely high standards to get in. Boxing not so much

Boxing has an extremely easy Hof to get into in comparison to other sports

No one someone like Ray Mancini, Hector Camacho or Arturo Gatti gets into the MLB hall of fame. In boxing they value popularity greatly

Well Moorer was also Light Heavyweight champion and Lineal Heavyweight champion.

    Byrd was neither.

And I'm not sure I'd pick Byrd to beat Moorer on a H2H basis either at Heavyweight or Light Heavyweight.

I haven’t voted because I’m not sure. But I did say in another post how can you have an IBHOF induction every year? Can’t be that many HOFamers. Also looks at some of the last inductees. A certain actor coming to mind. Does this happen in other sports? I don’t know.

One thing I really do believe is no fighter or any sportsman that has been proven to have used illegal drugs to enhance their performance should ever be inducted in the HOF It really makes a mockery of the whole thing

For real? What happens when a fighter dies and can't pay the dues anymore?
