Ali said that boxing would die the day he was out. But it didn`t: Leonard, Duran, Hagler and Hearns took his place prior to Tyson`s era.
Now that Tyson is gone, there`s Oscar, but he has 1 or 2 years left max.
Right now, I don`t see no one out there with the BO potential to be the new boxing Megastar. Does boxing need another cash cow right now?

megastar? cross-dressing celebrity or proper fighters

    boxing needs

    best vs the best
more exposure to biggest possible audience (free tv)
    rid of alphebet straps
    one voice (impossible)
more control for boxers of their own careers

whats the point if only a restricted audience can watch him, kelly pavlik would be huge if he was on free tv with all the casual fan exposure

Kelly Pavlik is the next star in boxing - but I don't know if he has the charisma to become a cross-over mega-star.

Pacquiao is already a super star though, but who knows how long he plans to stay in the game?

Pacman is already one of the very best ever but he is Asian and that does not work in the U.S.

Pavlik maybe, but he needs to win a couple more big fights, however his common man approach helps greatly.

Pacquiao right now is the biggest "superstar" in boxing right now besides Oscar De La Hoya..

I agree, Pavlik could become a big star in the U.S. but does he have the charisma or personality? Hatton was real big in the UK..
