Poll posted with the permission of the video's creator. The other threads on the topic keep getting derailed by rancor and side arguments. Let's try to focus specifically on Braddock's skills as demonstrated here, in his most prominent highlight video. In your opinion, does Braddock demonstrate impressive boxing skills and technique?

This poll isn't about whether he gets a bad rap or whether he's an overrated bum. It's strictly about whether you find his skills and technique impressive.

He looks more skilled than Dillian Whyte but less skilled than, say, Tony Tucker or Carl Williams

It's all relative, he obviously is no Willie Pep, but he's not without ability. I'll go with yes overall, he had flaws but he made it all work pretty well.

It seems like what you wrote would apply to virtually any boxer who's enjoyed any success in the professional ranks, by definition. Are you saying something more specific about the skills that Braddock demonstrates in the video? Just checking.

He looks pretty unremarkable and awkward.
Yet he gave Louis and Baer loads of trouble.
    Strange indeed.

He doesn't swing like a drunk man at the pub, he has decent handspeed. Not great? Well, he doesnt move well, he's not very crisp, nor is very fast. He can be read by his opponent.

At 2:47 he throws a nice uppercut and follows with a right to the head. Nothing that has been "lost" or unusual, but his technique on the uppercut is good. IMO, that's the best thing he does on the video.

Well, yeah. Unless you have a yardstick to compare it to, it's all pretty meaningless.

Not sure I follow but ok... What impressive boxing skills did you feel he demonstrated in the video? Any moments stand out to you in particular?

I'd rank his skills 3 or 4 out of 10, below average. Max Baer would be 2 or 3 out of 10, for that matter.

He's got a pretty strong jab, excellent composure, decent use of angles (nothing spectacular but better than a lot of fighters).

With a ton of heart and toughness hee had enough to achieve more than 99.5% of people that have entered the ring

Are you basing that rating on his performance in the highlight reel?
