He hasn't fought twice in a calendar year since 2019. He fights once a year and it seems like that will be the case again for 2025. Should a champ like him not be expected to fight more?
It’s his choice. But history may remember him more for who he didn’t fight, rather than who he did - and that’s his choice to make. When people discuss fighters after the fandom dies down, it’s ALL about resume. At the end of the day, it’s all that matters.
Yes he absolutely does. Average resume and when somebody who would have been a good addition to it like Boots was asking for the smoke he didn’t want to know. Dreadful performance in his last fight against Madrimov as well, looked shook to his boots faffing about and not letting his hands go and is ok with sitting on that performance for over a year deluding himself it was good waiting on the final Canelo cash grab. Talented overhyped fighter it needs to be said.
I like Crawford but yes his inactivity is rather disappointing, fighting once a year is far too little. He defo could have actually beaten Mayweather's record, would have hurt his ego to bits. Would have loved to seen Crawford fight Pac at least. Resume is the most important thing and he is a top 5 P4P star at the very worst but my gut feeling is that he will retire after cashing in on the Canelo fight.
He really missed a beat by not following up the Spence win with Ennis. If he hasn't already, Inoue is almost certainly going to surpass him regarding legacy.
Yes, but he was at the end of his career I think like 36 yrs old. He didn’t look good against madrimov and that division is packed with young hungry talent. I wouldnt hold it against him if he took that canelo sweepstakes fight and rode off into the sunset.
It’s his career so he can choose to fight as often as he likes. But when all is said and done, he won’t be held in the same regard as guys like Manny, Floyd, etc despite what his fans like to say at the moment when favouring him in hypothetical matchups and discussing his current P4P ranking. His resume just isn’t strong enough and he hasn’t been active enough. He will be forgotten in ten years from now, especially if he loses to canelo and then retires.
Sort of. But after being denied of the Pacquaio fight, being frozen out of the scene by PBC for half a decade, he's felt entitled to do whatever he likes since the ass-whooping of Spence. He probably also believes that he can beat Canelo and that a win like that would mean much more than a bunch of wins over 147 and 154 pounders, which makes sense.
His resume is decent but not. ATG resume If he takes Canelo’s scalp It will definitely be a crown jewl
