Does Calzaghe deliver punches correctly and look cool when he showboats?

You have to think about what "correctly" means. I don't think many could pull off those types of punches, but if it works it is surely correct enough? To me thats relative to how successful the punches are for you. It's not out of the textbook thats for sure.

I didn't like the showboating. One or two showboats is enough. It was okay when they were both doing it, but when it became clear Jones had no answer there wasn't any need.

It was a good counter to Roy's showboating at first but when Roy stopped Joe should have concentrated on stopping him which he could have done in my opinion.

Yep. He hurt Jones at one point, but didn't even try to finish him. I think he's forgotten how to finish he goes to points so often now.

I agree. Calzaghe was more intent on humiliating Jones than on beating the **** out of him. Maybe...he didn't want to hurt him physically that much, given that they are friends and all...who knows...

...compare his attitude pre and post fight against Lacy...

Just becasue Jones is older and has not maintained the level of skill that made him a legend doesnt mean that he is "shot" he showed great skill and timing, he landed some hard, accurate shots to Joe's face with a concerning regularity. Even people who call Joe a slapper (which is both too easy & ignorant imo) have to admit that Joe's punches were landing and hurting, some of them were bombs.

The showboating was cool but also a concern, when he got caught, he deserved to go down but Joe's perseverance and resiliance are frequently underestimated, by haters who talk him down. He earned the win.

Did RJJ really make $7/8 million ?

Added to all his other earning that will last him a long time, as his lifestyle does not look to lavish apart from a few fancy cars.

Personally i find Joe awful to watch. He does everything wrong. His punching technique is absolutely awful but he does get the job done. As for his showboating the reality is he`s not half as good as his ego makes him think he is.

If this fight was in 2000 we all know how it would have went. Now Calzaghe was right to goad RJJ in the early going, but when it was c;ear that Jones was done and not even trying to showboat for the last 6 rounds there was no need for Joe to keep at it

It was like as if he was trying to say 'look what im doing to RJJ' and in his mind that is probably what h thinks he did, its just a huge pity this fight didnt happen in 2000 and then the showboating would have being all RJJ

    He looks **** showboating.

His normal style nowadays is to pitter patt with lots and lots of punches without banging too hard for the sake of his hands. I doubt he could do a proper straight power punch without shattering his hand so he , not quite slaps, but not quite correctly punches. It works for him though.

It was quite good to see after RJJ put him down and went for him a bit Joe actually started proper swinging, meeting fire with fire, gambling if he did catch him that would be all he needed whilst nursing a broken hand... again.

Not a big time lavish spender as Holyfield.
