Pac has one of the greatest activity rate in the history of the sports. Please don't say he's past his prime because he's beaten some good fighters before and after that Floyd fight.
Manny Pacquaio only managed 500+ punches in a fight a handful of times and each and every one of the occasions was against a punchbag (ie his other-worldly performance against Clottey, Brandon Rios, Algieri etc). Look at his performances against the best and his output always dropped - Bradley, Marquez and, of course, Mayweather. Take Calzaghe, however, who managed to throw 700 punches against Hopkins - a defensive master of the sport. Over 1000 punches against a prime Kessler. 950 punches in his fight against Lacy. And almost 1000 in his demolition of Jones.
This is it. If you think Calzaghe was an average fighter, you can test this theory yourself. Flip a quarter 46 times, if you get heads 46 times in a row - you did what Calzaghe did and got really lucky, there is a 1 in 70 trillion chance you could do this. Let's say that Calzaghe was obviously way better than average and say that he was as good as the top ten guys on his resume. Now flip that coin 10 times. Getting all heads in a row is a 0.1% chance. Do it five times in a row and it's still only a 3% chance or 1 in 32 attempts. Calzaghe only had 1 attempt in his career and managed to win 46 times against professional fighters. Maybe you think there was somebody better than him, and maybe there was, but he still accomplished an amazing thing and deserves huge respect. The guy is a master at finding a way to win.
Threw 700 punches and landed somewhere around 48, literally, and most of those came in the last few rounds when Hopkins gas tank was on E.
Roy was totally shot but even he put Calzaghes ass on the canvas. Hopkins was robbed ,notice Sniffer Joe wanted no part of a rematch even tho Nard offered to go to Wales for it. Calzaghe was VERY over ratedatsch
He reigned in a weak division. I wouldn't call him very over rated, but that depends on how highly people are rating him. He beat a prime Kessler fair and square, so he was decent. He also smacked Jeff Lacy's career into the gutter. I'm not saying Joe was garbage, just a tad bit over rated. He caught Hops on his worse night, and still needed bogus judging to win the fight, when he landed less than 50 punches through 12 rounds, and yes they are so few, they are actually easily countable.
BUT Your Lordship How many of those 700 "punches" were really legal punches with the knuckle part of the glove ??? barely 20 % at best. He slapped like a girl not a man. Even the blatant low blow from Calzaghe was a slap Hopkins was robbed
Calzaghe the All Time Great :happy Superior to all overhyped American heroes :hammertimeartytime:freddy Excuses mean SZHIT
if someone is sad enough to pick jeff lacy as their hero over many other much better american smws, then they have enough problems to deal with without you writing deal wth it
i mean seriously come on, 'deal with' being a fan of jeff lacy? Thats like Vinnie Jones scowling ' I'll take care of the..... teddy bear'
and yet the all those punches, none of these guys was close to being stopped - in fact it was joe who was closest to being stopped when dropped by 2 of them. says a lot about joes power if even throwing so many, he acheives so little.
you should learn to say something nice about Joe once in awhile, it would make you feel better,,,, I noticed you lightened up with the Klits the other day, damn you nearly sounded like you stopped hating them for a few lines, good job Herol :good
