If he retired now? Wins over Trout, Lara, Cotto Disputed draw with GGG Wide loss to Floyd Win over faded Mosley KO win over Khan Win over Chavez JR I’d say based on popularity he’s got a chance if he retired today
If he stops the Diva nonsense he has a chance but right now he’s in the hall of shame, get away from fishnets would be a good start as I can’t believe he’s in the same mound as Oscar.
He's already had too many big event fights and is too famous not to be in the hall of fame. It doesn't matter that most of his opponents were old and small, or that the best beat him. By boxing standards he's famous. Plus, let's not take away from him the fact that he's had 8 or 9 title fights. That is a really rare accomplishment even against light competition. He's only 27 so he'll probably be in about 20 title fights over the course of his career. That's exceedingly rare.
When all is said and done, yes, Canelo will be in the HOF. As an above poster pointed out, his popularity and thus being a face of boxing for years will get him in. His accomplishments already point him close to that direction, specifically given his age. Two division lineal champion. Fought several of the very best opponents possible. Beat a bunch of top 10, former titlist, etc. guys. The PED issue happened but you don't see that show up much in the debate on fighters such as Roy Jones or Erik Morales, so, eh.
Not yet but I think hes close. Unless his career absolutely nose dives Im confident he earns a spot before he retires.
not really, avoided charlo and andrade at 154, /has/will continue to ignore saunders at 160, will probably duck charlo and jacobs
I don't see where he's had a HOF career if it ended today, however I have no doubt he's gonna end up in the HOF.
Every fighter in history "ducked" every fighter they never faced. Sugar Ray Robinson? Ducked hundreds, thousands, of folks.
