prior to the first Golovkin v Canelo fight if someone had asked me this I’d of probably said they had similar power but we all seen Golovkins disdain or lack of respect for Brook in their fight and conversely Golovkins respect for Canelo.
I really thought Golovkin was gonna treat Canelo like he did Brook, walking through his shots and unloading but that is not what I saw.

So what do we think, does Canelo have better one punch KO power?

I know his record doesn’t indicate a KO artist but he’s also fought a lot of top quality opponents in Cotto,Floyd,Lara,Trout,Moseley ect, usually those a tier or two below like Kirkland,Khan and Smith he KO’d em.

Nope, probably not, I've said for years Canelo's power is overrated and largely a carefully manufactured byproduct of KO ratio bolstering intelligent matchmaking.

I think judging by how Gennady fought them it’s pretty clear he thought Canelo had greater power.

But I think it’s also about shot selection and combinations. Canelo places his punches better. A Canelo uppercut or body shot is more to worry about than the same from Brook, who’s basically a shoeshiner. Canelo throws intelligent combinations with good finishing blows. Brook does not. Brook is flashy. Canelo is able to throw with bad intentions.

Canelo and its not even close. Canelo is a very heavy puncher but he doesnt have that cracking instant power that can hurt you even if he doesnt catch you square but if he catches you clean he can put you out.

Brook lifted GGG off his feet with a solitary uppercut and technically that's a KD and it's the only time GGG's ever been off his feet amateur or pro.

Clenelo cracked GGG with a right hand from hell, with every ounce of his might behind it, and GGG just smiled at him, and Clenelo was juiced to the gills too.

Yes well I’m trying to work out where this big puncher tag came from as it seemed to crop up before the first Golovkin fight with guys like Kellerman ect going on about it.
Surely when he weighed in at 164lbs and fought a drained, weakened Chavez in a fight where Canelo never even sat down in his corner, surely if he were this big puncher he’d of gotten Chavez outta there?

I heard Clenelo had beef hormones injected right into his jaw in a attempt to combat the glass.

Lol that uppercut was vicious from Brook,I’m struggling to think who else could of taken that without getting sparked out.
It was seeing Brook that gave Jacobs and maybe Canelo the balls to fight but in reality they didn’t really do what Brook tried to do as being slick doesn’t win against Golovkin either cause he’s outworking you all the time.

Forgot to mention that Golovkin was supposed to have told Vanes that he hit him harder than anyone, pity that was Vanes downfall lol

That uppercut lays out every other MW, with the exception of BJS 2.0 because he's way too gypsy slick to get caught with it, out cold on their backs.

lol That was 170lb Vanes 2.0, not the 158lb Vanes who beat Jermello. That was the hardest punching Vanes to ever step foot in a ring.

Brook set that uppercut up beautifully. Aimed a throwaway jab to skim over GGG's head, anticipating Golovkin would lift his guard to react then ramming the uppercut underneath. Brook has great boxing skills, is a real pity his career seems to have been largely squandered with injury, fighting pointless fights and now being stuck between two weight classes. He is too big for welter and too small to make any great impact at 154. I predict will just keep ticking along looking for cash out opportunities (a la Bellew) from now on in...
