I think so. Monzon was takes you into deep waters and drowns you. I re-watched the first Benvenuti fight. Its quite scary how well conditioned Monzon is even in the 12th. His punches are so crisp and controlled and the moment of the finish, Carlos just cranked into up into high gear so effortlessly. Monzon is very deceiving he looked beanpole thin but when they zoom out on the KO from an aerial view you can see Monzon is wiry strong, and so coiled in his stance. I use the Benvenuti fight because I think Nino was a hell of a fighter and although not as fluid as Nunn, he was a good mover in the ring. Monzon hunted him down and invested in the body despite having much slower footspeed. Early on Monzon gets outboxed by Nunn quite easily but I think Monzon comes home strong and KOs him very late in the fight. Nunn showed some questionable concentration in the Toney fight particularly after the 7th round, almost as if he was bored and has a penchant for throwing combos just a bit too long, rather than 1-2 and moving. The other thing about Nunn v Toney was that Nunn could be hit, sure he looked absolutely amazing defensively at times but he would get clipped here and there with basic stuff in every round routinely just because his hands were down. Plus Monzon has THAT jab while Toney's jab was more of a range finder. Thoughts?
