He has his flaws Twenty, but I think hes great for boxing in the UK. Never any **** wrote about him outside the ring as hes quite a clean liver and focused, hes only knock is his fundamentals and his dad, and them fundamentals seem to be good enough to push a slick fighter in Saunders to the limit and a bigger more skilled fighter in Groves to the wire, to the point that in the 12th and final round if you were a Saunders or Groves fan you were praying for the bell to end the fight

In all fairness, Groves having a dislocated shoulder might have had something to do with it..

No, in fact i wouldn't be surprised if Smith gave him a career changing beating.

I still think Jr is World Class, but Smith is just a bad match up.
We need to let this thread die

Jr is a very average sized 168, Smith is an absolute monster of a man @ the weight.
Height and reach advantage is too hard to beat, especially when you add skill and power.

Jr might be best served dieting and heading back to 160 if the alternative is fighting this bloke.

Plenty of good fights to make @ both weights though

If he boxes him like he did Holzken then Junior wins.

I don't think so, no. Jr won't be able to bully Smith and his punch output is mostly in sporadic bursts anyway. He might have a better chin than Groves but he isn't suddenly going to develop the ability to box at this level over the course of a year. He's a great athlete and a mediocre boxer. He didn't even box that well against JJ to be honest, still got hit plenty

He was close with Saunders when Saunders gassed which he was famous for doing after 6 rounds. He in no way took Groves to the wire either.

He seems to live the life outside the ring for sure, but he also took his IBO belt to a concern, so...

You have to give credit to Jnr too, Saunders did gas but Jnr was one of the reasons he was gassing and he had a torrid time with Jnr at times

Eubank is far too small, he is a blown up middleweight, and Smith is a boiled down Light-heavy...and he's just not as good as Smith and doesn't have the power to trouble him

The Plank reach and CEJ in ability to get inside and close the distance would be too big a task. The Plank would out jab and hook him all.night.

People can’t use the “Saunders gassed” argument without conceding that Eubank pissed away the first six by pandering to the crowd and basically playing the pantomime villain. The two even themselves out.

I believe English Jr would have worn down and stopped the Groves that Mundroid just beat.
It's a pick'em for me and I might just give CEJ the edge.
Depends on what either have left but the DeGale of the Jack fight and the CEJ of the Groves fight both have a great chance imo.
