Does Chocolatito get a pass?

It's rare to see a Chocolatito discussion that doesn't put a lot of focus on Cuadras and Estrada. A lot of people will give Ward a pass if he fights Stevenson instead of Kovalev next as well. I'm failing to see a double standard.

 

I don't think anyone could really complain about Ward fighting someone like Stevenson. Dude's nominally lineal and a current titleholder. So, it's a way to completely unify the crown. In much the same way, a fighter like Rungsuvai would be yet another good name on Chocolotito's resume and is deserving of a crack at a title.

In both cases, rematches would be welcome, but facing other deserving (and "deserving" would be the operative word) opponents in the interim shouldn't be held against the fighters in question.

 

what about my post says that I believe he doesn't deserve a rematch?! I only said I give him a pass for fighying another guy first, because he's not contracted to do otherwise and it wasn't as controversial as Kova vs Ward. I even wrte down that I want to see the rematch, but it doesn't have to be right away.

 

Double standard. He's so small no one really cares, but people think they'll sound educated if they call someone like that the pfp best. So they don't look at it too deeply.

 

So we're pretending Gonzalez lost or struggled mightily to Cuadras now?

 

I never said or hinted at "easily." In fact, I've stated on this forum several times that I believe it was a close fight.

 

Right, the only point of calling him the p4p best is to sound educated. It has nothing to do with him being the most accomplished fighter in the world, being legitimate champion in 4 weight classes, fighting well above his peak weight and still getting the better of a younger, fresher and bigger champion.

 

Well that's your opinion. Mine is more in line with the majority this time, that it was close-but-clear and not quite close enough that I could see any case at all, round by round, that Gonzalez lost that fight at all.
