Gonzalez moved from 112 to 115 whereas Ward moved from 168-175 that's 7lbs the weight groups in these lower divisions are divided by tiny differences in weight. How would Ward moving up 32lbs Lmao the equivalent of Chocolatito moving up 3lbs is that a joke.

See my other comment, two weight groups for Ward is 32lbs whereas two for Gonzalez is about 6lbs, I don't care how big there are 32lb trumps 6 any day of the week.

Gonzalez won his first title at 105, 10 lbs is a very big deal for a guy that small. Maybe the comprasion would be more accurate if the CW limit was still 190 but still, Ward would be outsized at 200 in a similar manner to Chocolatito is at 115. Not the same, but closer than him being outsized at 175.

He was gifted the belts in one fight by the judges at light heavy. He didn't unify anything at 175.

You can tell Chocolatito is not naturally a 105 guy, I would say his optimum weight is 112, at 115 he looks a bit soft and his power doesn't carry over. Ward was smaller against Kovalev and barerra at 175. So tbh I would say it's a similar situation maybe if there was a 183 division it would be closer but that depends if you think Gonzalez's best weight is 108 or 112. Not to mention Caudras is not the unified king of division.

I think his best weight was 108 and didn't think Ward was seriously outsized by Barrera(they were both 185 on fight day) or Kovalev so that's probably where we disagree on.

For the record I don't think Ward is far behind Chocolatito, they're 1a and 1b right now for me. I'd put Ward at #1 if he decisively beat Kovalev in the rematch, but if Gonzalez gets to Inoue first and takes him out, he's the best fighter in the world without the shadow of a doubt.

Fair enough on your first part bro, but do you think beating a unified champ at 175 is not a higher achievement than beating a guy with no belt who has less than 15 fights? (Btw I do rate Inoue as a very precocious talent his not p4p just yet).

It's not so much as which one is the better single win as it is about Chocolatito proving to be the clear best at yet another weight class, adding another top level talent to his ledger along with having more wins over quality contenders than any other active fighter bar Pacquaio.

Put it this way: If Gonzalez beats Inoue, he will have beaten the 3 best fighters in his 4th weight class,(Inoue, Cuadras, Estrada) all 3 of which are p4p level talents.

Considering he doesn't get paid 5 million dollars like Ward then yes he gets a pass.

I get that but expect for Estrada, the rest are just belt holders who we have picked as the best they haven't actually proved it like a Klitschko, Golovkin, Kovalev or Ward. At the end of the day you can't say who the best in any division until they have at least 2 or 3 of the belts.

No he doesn't. The fight was a clear but very competitive 8-4 decision for Roman. Roman-Cuadras was less clear.

Both were close, but I don't think Gonzales-Cuadras was as controversial or high profile as Ward-Kovalev. Sure, Gonzales was fighting an undefeated, bigger fighter, but Cuadras wasn't on the p4p list like Ward/Kovalev are and he was clearly better than previously thought. There needs to be rematches for both fights, but Ward definitely owes on to Kov especially if there was a rematch clause. Kov should have his immediate rematch.

Agree 4 divisions in 10 pounds is a joke to this sport.
