Does Cleverly get overrated?

I think so.

Cleverly has stuff going for him dont get me wrong, like he knows how to behave like a man in the ring, he's a tough SOB, has a good body attack, has good stamina, has good speed, and seemingly has a good chin, thus far, that said, he's also easy to hit, and has a poor ability to dictate from range imo.

Cleverly reminds me of Munroe, unless he's on your chest moving his hands, he can be picked off and outboxed by from range, by the right opponent of coarse, now from what I've seen recently, Cleverly seems to be trying to Box more, but he's still very hittable imo, now he might squeeze past Bellew, although that's not a given, but I dont see as he's THAT much better than someone like Bellew, if at all.


Cleverly would probably box and move against Bellew, then it would probably come down to whether Bellew could catch upto him and drag him into a fight, and if that were to happen, Bellew's power would probably play a more significant factor in the fight, so you would have to give him a very realistic chance of winning imo, cause he can punch, now you might say, well Bellew wont be able to catch up to him, but is Cleverly's ring generalship, ability to dictate and use his legs, gonna be enough to take away Bellew's target area consistently? Cause I dont know if it is, I can easily see Bellew catching up to him a some point, whether he could do enough in that period, to win the fight, is debatable, but lets have it right, technically, Cleverly is not that great, and that's why I'd give Bellew a chance, cause Cleverly's defense is not that good, and he's not skilled enough, to disengage Bellew for the whole fight, and not get dragged into a bit of a fight momentarily, and that is why you would have to give Bellew a good chance imo, cause he can punch, he also has a lot of dog in him himself, so basically, I dont see why so many would dismiss Bellew so easily, and why they seemingly rate Cleverly so highly.

Cleverly might win, but he might also get stopped, now whilst some might favour him to win, I cant see why you would right Bellew off, cause its not so much whether you think Bellew is this or that, its that Cleverly, isn't that much better than Bellew imo, IE not on that much of a higher level, if at all, so based on that, I'd definitely give him a chance.


Granted Bellew isn't Ismayl Sillakh, but that guy would box Cleverly's ears off imo, which kind of gives me an indication of how good Cleverly actually is, good, but no were near as good as perceived by British fans.

Dont get me wrong, you cant question Cleverly's ability to be a man in the ring, he's a tough kid, he has a lot of dog in him, but I dont see as he has enough skills, to change the game and disengage the opponent when its not his best advantage to hold his feet and show how tough he is, now he might have JUST enough to get by Bellew, but when he moves up........

Yeah Cleverly does have a lot of heart, you gotta give him that, as I say he's also a tough SOB, but ability to act like a man in the ring, is not the only thing you need when you need to change the game up, as it might not be to your advantage to stand and trade, as not only is Bellew a big puncher, Cleverly is seemingly not a big puncher, and IS very hittable.

Yeah, although I guess in his defense, Murat seemed like he could crack a bit, that said, anyone can look to have a stellar chin one min, then get knocked out by someone else. Doug De Witt had an iron chin, but Kalambay still knocked him out, yet Hearns couldn't knock him out, either way, its not advisable to be getting hit so cleanly, so often, good chin or not.

That's kind of how I feel.
