One thing I like about Cotto is that he likes to fight up close and push the other fighter against the ropes, at which point he peppers his opponents with hooks. Ortiz had limited success against Floyd doing something like that, and Cotto is much more experienced at it.
Cotto will get his ass handed to him. The fight would make sense should Cotto beat Margarto, but it would still be a easy fight For Floyd to win.
so are you trying to say here that floyd only fights GBP in-house fights and floyd would never fight pacquiao who's a TR fighter?
Ortiz is a southpaw and bigger then Cotto and he took a **** ton of punishment and his eye was closing in only 4 rounds. Floyd would walk Cotto down and stop him.
I think Cotto would make this fight close for 5 rounds, then Mayweather would work him out and take a wide points decision. Still, I'd be happy enough to see it, not necessarily a fight I'm calling for though.
The fight should have been made in 2008. If Cotto beats Margarito then I wouldnt mind it if May-Pac cant be made.
The fight would be pointless. If Floyd wins, "Cotto was past it", "Cotto was too slow", "Cotto could lost his punch resistance", "Cotto was burned out by age, Pac and Margarito"...etc. Ortiz was hyped well, but in the end...he was "Too young", "Too green", "Not in Floyd's league"...etc.
Give Chavez Jr to Cotto, obviously Bob won't do it, but I'd love to see Cotto chop him down, Make it at 160 (Maybe Cotto can get a re-hydration clause in there, to stop him taking on a cruiserweight on fight night) Cotto can be a 4 division world champ and retire in peace.
depends how cotto looks against margarito,if he wins impressively then it could be a worthy fight for Floyd if Pacquiao fight falls through.
