Not anymore. I'm a huge Cotto fan and would have loved to see this a few years back, but not anymore. All this would do for Floyd is add another name he didn't fight when he was dangerous, but fought past his prime. No matter if you believe Floyd that he really wanted Cotto when he "retired" or not, fighting him now doesn't prove anything.
Maybe as Floyd's goodbye fight. It's time Cottoe fans get buried in the graves they dug for themselves.
Much, much better fight than Mayweather-Ortiz bout. At least we know Cotto can hold his own at world level for more than one bout.
A match up I would love to see!!! If not, then Pacquiao after Cotto starches Margarita's cheating ass!!!
Especially after Ortiz was able to tag him the way he did. Mayweather gets dominated with a good jabber and Cotto can fill that bill !!!
I've wanted to see this bout for years, whether Cotto is past prime or not...you could even argue that Mayweather is past his prime. Not many other bouts out there for Mayweather IMO.
Cotto would get dominated.. He wouldnt be in the fight for 1 second! Now 2007 cotto, well thats another story! Id rather see chicken jr- ortiz 2
Slug, you wouldn't call a professional boxer a chicken to their face...so stop with the bull**** over the internet. Just because you said Ortiz was going to beat Mayweather doesn't mean you can act like the rest of the pricks who go around degrading boxers, just because they can. Cotto would do much better than Ortiz. He would have Mayweather thinking a little more, even at this point in his career. He certainly wouldn't make it easy for Floyd like Ortiz. Ortiz flicks out his timid jab, misses with the straight left and right hook continually. Gets caught with the straight right again and again. Ortiz runs around the ring a little, Mayweather very easily cuts the ring off. Ortiz lands 1 punch of 4-5 punch combinations (the crowd cheers). Ortiz jumps in to more straight rights. Repeat for 4 rounds.
So, that whole offer to fight Pac was just an act??? ...and him/his team going through that whole negotiation/mediation drama was just a big charade.
My opening post explains it really, but yeah...now. It may go against his logic, but this is all IMO that this bout makes sense now. Removing Arum or whatever else was in the way of this bout not happening for whatever reasons over the years, I still think this would be a very interesting bout, considering the options both boxers have.
This fight is not happening the only way you see Floyd do business with Arum is if its to beat Manny. Plus Cotto has no chance at beating Floyd **** Cotto would be scared to sign the contract thinking about the beating
