Does David Benavidez have what it takes to make a splash at Heavy weight?

So basically I've been hearing benevidez was a heavy weight at 12 or 13 but then he took off the weight properly to make 168. So essentially the look in andrades face when David hit him caused boo boo to open his eyes wide in astonishing manner because of the power benevidez hit him with in their fight.

Would David be able to go up 35 pounds and still retain his power that he showed in the Demetrius Andrade fight? We ve all seen Andy Ruiz do his thing, but the hunger for greatness not food, nor the passion to to become something great were part of the embodiment of his championship run.

Does David benevidez the super middleweight have what it takes to be the face of boxing and also the heavyweight mexican champ who reigns supreme ? Of course this is after his business under hw has finished.

Canelo came in the game light but grew over time. Db came into the game medium sized, can he leave great and large? My safe bet would be: only time will tell. How about y'all feel about this question?

I think he can win a HW world title before he retires but that's too early now.

"heavyweight at 12 or 13" is just code for being a fat kid

No. He doesn't even have the size for Cruiser.

Benavidez was fat at 12/13. That doesn't make him a heavyweight. Thats the first thing.

Second, I think your greatly overestimating Benavidez. His power for a 168lber is about average. The fight with Andrade proved it as he struggled to put down Andrade early on when he should've considering Andrade was a blown up 154/160 lber against someone who's natural weight class is 175. The Plant fight is further icing on the cake as Benavidez never once bought him down despite landing so many punches. On that note Plant also said Canelo struck harder than Benavidez and we saw Bivol had greater physical strength than Canelo.

Basically.....Benavidez moving to 175 likely wont even be stronger than Bivol and even if he were, by how much? He ain't topping the likes of Yade, Beterbiev, Callum Smith, Pascal, etc. That automatically shuts out any possible remote chance he'd ever have at surviving at cruiserweight, much less heavyweight.

As far as the growing into higher weight classes situation go....there's something that should be taken into account here that isn't and its time. Canelo was just about a kid still (early 20's) when he began to move up. He had enough time to naturally grow into higher weight classes. Benavidez on the other hand is done growing at his age. He's at where he's at. He can move up to 175, but that will be the limit of what he can do.

I can't disagree not one bit with your statement, but how about I change my philosophy, can he nab a belt at hw? I mean outside of the big six there's noone up there lol. Usyk Wilder Joshua fury Zhang ngannou. Or throw a few others in there lol.

No, I think the highest he can possibly go is CW. Heavy? Nah.

So much clueless in almost every sentence here. Where do I start.

David has an 85% KO ration but has average power. Ye ok lol.

He struggled to put down Andrade early on? He dropped him in the 4th round, and stopped him in 6 rounds but you use that as evidence he lacks power. lol. I guess Canelo lacks power because he couldn't even stop a 154 pound Charlo right? See how your arguments are all silly?

Plant held on for dear life and clinched 80 times, apparently because Benavidez does not hit hard? Canelo couldn't stop Ryder I guess he lacks power?

A baseless claim with nothing to support it. Callum Smith lacked the power to keep Ryder off him yet was knocking out LHW's. David will likely have more power at 175 than he does now. Heard of a guy called Badou Jack? He knocked out the WBC cruiser champ at 40 years of age, and he is a former 168 fighter, who struggled to beat Anthony Dirrell in his prime. You sound like a total casual.

Canelo didn't naturally grow into 175, he just packed on muscle. He is 5'7 and won a title there but 6'2 Benavidez limit is 175? Again you make no sense. David can easily be successful at Cruiser, that division is trash.

There's a reason he cuts down to 168 and doesn't fight at his natural weight... He doesn't have the chin or power for it.

No chance. HW is too high a hill for him to climb. His power won’t translate.

He’s skinny fat at 168 so no, definitely not at heavy weight, I’m not even sure he’s big enough for light heavyweight. The only reason he have a hard time to make 168 is because he’s a fat ass that’s not disciplined enough to follow a diet.

This coming from a Benavidez fan that thinks he can beat Canelo.

Bernavidez has a mediocre SMW resume and is big at the weight, and there's actually talk that he could beat someone half decent at HW? Jesus. I'm far from sure he gets past Gvozdyk.

If David could succeed at HW he'd be fighting at HW.
