Does Dawson present a more difficult challenge, to Calzaghe, then Kessler did?

For sure. Calzaghe has proven he is an excellent fighter but he and his father pick his fights carefully. There is a very good reason he will not sign to fight Dawson OR G. Johnson....styles make fights and both of them would give him absolute fits. With Dawson he gives up the speed advantage which is something he has always been reluctant to do. With Johnson he gives up work rate. There is a good reason he did not make a REAL effort to fight B.Hop and RJJ until they showed a significant loss in both categories previously mentioned. Hardcore Calzaghe fans will probably jump all over these comments with excuses but any true non-biased fan knows whats what.

Maybe now that Calzaghe just keeps slipping a little more each fight.

You're having a laugh. Johnson is absolutely tailormade for Calzaghe. Well not quite as tailormade as a Pavlik or Lacy would be/was but near enough. Johnson is a plodder. One paced, slow and easy to hit. Calzaghe has way too much speed, supreme footwork, great jab, tremendous fitness and workrate for a old teak tough guy who works hard but is never really going to compete with an athlete like Calzaghe.

    You speak complete twoddle.

have to agree. calzaghe beats johnson but johnson is perhaps the fighter i have THE most respect for the way he ran his career.

it's a shame calzaghe, a fighter who is more talented, never had the mindset that johnson did.

Only one way to find out....:good

The "plodder" you speak of dominated and completely knocked out a fresher RJJ that Cal did and didn't even get dumped on his rear in the process. Styles make fights and I still think G. Johnson give Cal absolute fits.

No... He would get completely lambasted for choosing to face Johnson now.

Johnson offers the least amount of threat to Joe's undefeated record out of everyone that he could potentially acceptably fight.

I don't know man. Johnson is predictable but there aren't too many guys like him with his combination of stamina, chin, workrate, and sheer determination. He would be in Calzaghe's chest from start to finish. Never underestimate Johnson. The guy comes to fight. Ask Chad Dawson about him.

I can see by your name "Pride of Wales" that there is no point in discussing this with you. I'm sure you think Cal is the greatest p4p fighter ever and that he could dominate anyone he faces. You have your opinion and I have mine. I will leave it at that.

Yes southpaw stance, greater workrate, faster handspeed, better movement and defense.

LOL. Claim Johnson has a chance of winning a fight between the two and we will see how greatly diffrerent the reaction is.
