Read carefully. I'm not asking if he wins, but does he have a chance, even if it's rather small? The poster Pugilist_Spec posted the following in another thread.

Dempsey in some of those underground fights he had, probably faced a bigger, dangerous fighter with "anything goes" rules allowed. So he wouldn't be afraid of Tyson. Probably just a case of who gets the few big punches in first.

    It could go either way!

What hairstyle Tyson chooses is his problem!

no because his boxing skills are much inferior to Michael Tysons

Dempsey had more openings than a Sunday hooker when rent was due.

I don't think I ever asked you this before, do you think Greb and Wills take Dempsey's belt away?

Then again, he also thinks Ruddock hit harder than Foreman and Liston, and Tyson-Spinks was a better win than Frazier's over Ali. He's not exactly Mr. Credibility. :verysad

Tyson was a bully, I think he loses mentally because Dempsey doesn't back down.

This is the oldest line of tripe in the book. As if Tyson had no talent, skill or great coaching.

Did Jim Flynn merely call out Dempsey for being a bully and make him lie down cold as a cucumber?

Like anything at that level, it's a percentage game. It troubles me that a prime perfect Dempsey had such trouble with Brennan, or that Carpentier rocked him to his heels or that he had such lapses against a buffoon like Firpo. I would give Dempsey an edge against Wills but on Wills best day and Dempsey's 90% day, that edge is erased.

Greb is more troubling. He proved a great operator against bigger opponents and Dempsey was most troubled by smaller, shiftier opponents. I am going to favor Dempsey certainly but the bright men favored Tyson against Douglas, or Willard against Dempsey, or Liston against Clay. We need to fight the fights to know. And who should do the fighting are the most deserving.
