So they gave a voluntary title shot to Haye for more money than Vitali was offering, just because Haye is such a nice guy, and for that reason they also did not want a rematch clause or options on Haye if he wins despite of him not being a mandatory. Right, that sounds logic. And that with Haye being without a large fanbase, and without a filthy rich TV station backing him and bringing in sponsor money.
Wrong. Haye and Booth gave Sauerland/King 3 fights if he wins. Dan Rafael of ESPN.com reported this weeks ago. I think he would know.
It is obvious King has options on Haye. For Haye this is a comfortable situation. He can wait until Vitali retires, work off his options to Don King, make a couple of millions in the process and keep calling out the Klitz while he's hiding in the UK. If King has options for co-promoting three fights with him that would probably take 12-18 months to work through, then Haye would be a free agent by 2011 (if he wins all fights) and end up richer by a couple million pounds.
Let's just put 1 and 1 together: King didn't allow Valuev - Klitz to happen. Why? Because he made an offer to the Klitz for a unification ONLY under the condition of getting co-promotion rights for fights of the winner. The Klitz declined because they don't understand why they would have to give promotion rights to King should they win his WBA belt, hence a fight never materialized. You see King wants co-promotion rights on fighters even when they bring belts to the table. It's sick. If Haye takes the WBA belt it will likely be the same problem, until he becomes a free agent.
I doubt it. King is just Valuev's US co-promoter. Sauerland is Valuev's main promoter, and they're pretty reasonable. Plus, I doubt Haye would have pulled out of a big money fight with Vitali if he had to have options on him. Plus Haye is the biggest money fight available for Valuev, outside of the Klits. Basically, he would have had no leverage to try to get options. He might have co-promote rights for a fight or two (like what GBP has with Mayweather), but that's about it. Co-promote rights with King isn't the worst thing in the world though. It means Haye can still make his own events, but will have access to King's large stable of heavyweights to make easy fights with.
For some reason i think Dan Rafael knows more then you... and he has stated there are options and there is a difference between a heavyweight belt and a cruiserweigt belt.. apples and oranges.. Valuev is the only heavy champ who he has a belt with if you think hed let him walk into a non mandantory title fight without options on him you are fooling yourself or know nothing about don king and his history with the heavyweights...
Who in kings stable is worth a damn at heavy? and how would Haye have any leverage he screwed th pooch with Wlad and wanted nothing to do with Vitaly the only other " champ " ( i use the term loosely because he never won it back from Chagaev) So hay had backed himself into a wall fight Vitaly and get his ass kicked or sign up to the Don King Circus...
