Does Edwin Valero have equal hand speed to Manny Pac?

I just saw Valero fight on Youtube, and you know what...I am not sure if Pacquiao is faster than this guy.

I think the left from Valero looks deadlier. Valero looks like a cobra. When he strikes, it's all over. The competition he was fighting wasn't championship caliber, but you can tell he has lightning quick speed, with heavy hands, deadly power.

I am going to say that right now, Valero has a faster left. His left is straight too! If Valero has a chin, he will be tough to beat. That means you have to stay away from that left for 10-12 rounds, which could be near impossible...amazing!

I know, I said that the competition isn't championship level. But, you can still analyze speed and power, and Valero has got it. Very rare to have both. That left is quick, powerful, and STRAIGHT too!

 

What a weird argument to make, especially about JMM. If you want to get all "Lion King" about it, than every fight is in the past and can't be used to gauge present abilities.

I'm undecided because, until Mr. Soul Glo/Mohawk/Fade/Shag Carpet/Mushroom Head, I'd only seen Valero in 2nd generation tape from South America. Granted, he looks really quick-handed in those tapes, but most of the competition was at just about my level of handspeed and - you might want to sit down for this one - I'm not exactly world-class competition. Impossible to gauge it until Valero finally gets a shot at gatekeeper-level opposition.

 

Can you suggest maybe 3 minimum risk but still respectable gatekeepers around Valero's weight class?

Katsidis
Casamayor (Old)
Juan Diaz (by the time Valero has fought those guys hopefully Juan has had a warm-up fight)

After that, Antillon, then move up to 140 and challenge the big dogs

 

If he fought for his people he wouldn't associate himself with the government that is ruining them.

 

I wouldnt say these 3 are minimum risk, but yeah I get it. Good, strong line up.

if he beats top opposition, ill become converted for sure. right now, i still consider him a good and entertaining fighter, but that might change in a few years

 

If he wants to have minimum risk fights he won't go anywhere.

Escebedo would be a decent fight for him next. He needs a mover, someone who will give him some rounds and not just stand in front of him. However, he's more likely to fight Soto next, but I'd like to see him fight Guzman.

 

nope. pac's still faster imo, but valero right now is ****ing dangerous because his speed is quite deceiving

Well, being British I could give two shits bout the U.S policy.

I wouldn't approve of Gamboa if he came out with a Castro or Guevara tattoo either, so it's nuttin to do with bias. In fact I've tried to be more objective with Valero in the last couple of days, don't know whether you've noticed as his nuts are still in front of your face obscuring your vision.
