He's on a Title challenging run here fella's, whats your opinion, 1 more ?? or GSP/Condit winner Pending potential super fights obviously
They'll cash out with Silva v GSP before Jake gets a shot at GSP imo. But if Condit wins, barring an immediate rematch he's next in line
He avenged a loss but it wasn't that exciting and its only one win since Kampmann beat him. He needs to do more, at least one big win but most likely 2 good wins.
The logical and obvious choice is Kampman/Hendricks - Ellenberger But we just never know whats going to happen with lay offs medical suspensions etc, i think Ellenberger despite losing to MK has proven title challenger worthy, id like to see him fight for a title personally
Nick Diaz will be able to fight again in February. Ellenberger could be his return fight. Jake has talked **** about Nick in the past, so I'm sure they would both be up for it.
He's a way off now IMO, did not look great against Sanchez, Kampmann or Hieron. Has such heavy everything though. Destructive but only sporadically explosive. Would like to see him in with winner of Silva-Fitch.
Not logical from the UFC standpoint. They'll move winner of Kampmann-Hendricks into a title shot and Ellenberger will need to beat some other contenders. He had his chance and lost. Needs to rebuild and Hieron, despite avenging a loss, has not moved him anywhere. Koscheck could still happen and Kos' is a perfect gatekeeper at this stage. He won't get another sniff at this stage so if any contenders can't beat him they're not title shot worthy. Maia would be an interesting matchup. If it stays standing you'd have to pick Jake to blast him. Ellenberger is a devastating MMA wrestler, but not infallible in the defensive game and anything less than stellar is a danger going into a bout with Maia. There's a lot of options, but he's not in the title frame just yet I don't think.
I'd like to see him vs Fitch to be honest. I wasn't impressed with him at all against Heiron. I think he did enough, not to lose, but never tried to really win. I think he is worried about gassing. I'd like to see how he does against Fitch's pressure for 3 rounds, as a gauge to see if the GSP fight is intriguing. A Diaz fight would be interesting, but I want Diaz to fight non-wrestler types. Every fight against a wrestler is going to go the exact same way I fear, and I'd like to see Diaz in exciting fights. Put Diaz against Dan Hardy for his comeback fight, or let him fight at Middleweight vs Belfort.
Diaz has a fantastic active guard game that makes fights against wrestlers exciting. Nobody simply controls Nick to victory on the ground.
Well in fairness, I haven't seen him fight a wrestler in some time. But a guy like Fitch, I think can avoid submissions and have top control for enough time to stall and win 2/3 or 3/5 rounds. I'd just rather not see it. :good
