It will raise his profile much like how Pac beating Oscar, Mayweather beating Oscar, Lewis beating Tyson, raised their profiles and got them known outside of just the usual hardcore fanbase. But it won't make him a superstar. He needs rivalries. Where would Ali be without Frazier, Leonard be without Hearns, Duran and even now would anyone give a damn about heavyweights if there hadn't been the Joshua/Wilder/Fury rivalry. So even if he beats Pac, he has to build rivalries. Crawford is the obvious option but unless when they fight they put on a classic and dramatic fight I can't see that really being enough. Fact is Crawford much like Spence lack star appeal and without some kind of drama or controversy their fight won't cross over into the mainstream. It would need to be a war like Morales/Barrera 1 or Pac/JMM with a rematch to draw out the casuals and make them stars.
His era really lacks the personality of a Floyd or must see performances of a Pacquiao to become true superstars. Those guys always had those traits but Oscar provided platform to display it to the masses. Immediately after Oscar fights momentum, Pacquiao goes on to 1 shot KO Hatton while Floyd puts on a elite boxing display vs Hatton. Teo just beat Loma and his momentum has slowed down because he starts feuding with his promoter. When these guys do put on a great performance they don’t fight for 8 months and the momentum is gone.
Spence is the chill dude in the corner of the room. Maybe he gets down every now n then but few see it. Not a sellable personality.
Idk, Pacman is loved that Spence might get resentment from a lot of fans, it’s actually a lose lose situation for him. I don’t like the fight for either. Spence would of got more respect if he fought Crawford.
Well, normies will finally know his name, and that does count for a lot. He's going to crap it all away when he hides from Crawford. Finally name recognition in the mainstream but there's not another opponent besides Crawford the mainstream public will give an F about.
Maybe, if he'd beaten the Pac of years ago, when he was at his peak. That would have been a statement. Now? Not so much.
Did Jeff Horn? LOL.. As great as PAC is he's at an age now where he can decline in one single fight.. 42 ffs.. The man is a legend but has been running on fumes for years now, it's just he was that good in his prime & has such an extensive well honed doping regime that he's able to prolong his exit route.. Spence is a big WW in his prime , PAC is an old man.. Thurman was overrated a bit anyway , summat about him that makes me question his ambition too.. if spence beats pac people will overate the **** out of the win.. it will be a very good win but remember the **** Calzaghe got for Hopkins? Even tho JC was an old fighter himself in a new division by then anyway.. I bet the same people that **** on that win will jump all over ol errols win here
Ignoring how that win came about for a moment... Horn became a lot more known Spence will too But Superstar? I really doubt it
