Does everyone now accept that Mikkel Kessler was not "RUINED" by the Calzaghe defeat?

It is mostly Calzaghe fans trying to make one of the best wins on his resume worth more than it actually is...

I have read a lot more ridiculous statements they have made, than that of Calzaghe ruining Kessler.

Calzaghe beat Kessler but the fight was close, I believe I gave Kessler 5 rounds, but he just faded in the end. Close contested fight. Ward outclassed Kessler and I think I only had Kessler winning 3 rounds at most.

As for the ref, there was no cheating he broke up the action when there was not a hand free, see you actually can continue to punch if you have a hand free it doesn't have to break or stop fighting when just one fighter decides to clinch.

Also Ward is from Cali, not Texas, I don't know what you are talking about in that regard.

Like I said before, only one fighter out of Ward and Calzaghe made Kessler get a therapist and change trainers and try to change his style, and that wasn't Calzaghe.

I try not to jump to conclusions but before the fight Mikkel was a bad ass...after the fight he was not the same fighter !!!

It may be a stretch but I am leaning towards the idea that it affected him in a bad way !!!

No he wasn't ruined by Calzaghe. He fought a great fight. It was a gruelling fight and a classic. One of the best fights of the last 5 years.

kessler is not ruined... He lost to Calzaghe, and came back and became a champion again!! And for the Ward loss, how many fighters have lost their worldchampionsship fight and then in the very next fight after the loss, win a worldchampionship again???
IT`S a tough thing to do!! he got back from a loss to defeat an undefeated worldchampion!!!
    Give the guy some credit!!!

I don't think Kessler's ruined. That being said, I do see some fragility surrounding him which is a bit worrying. While Kessler was clearly the man who worked the hardest, Froch really was the only one who looked dangerous in that fight. Dangerous as in, "getting you opponent out" dangerous.

Kessler is not, and hasn't been, the fighter he was pre Calzaghe, that's fact, but it wasn't Calzaghe who did it.

All this 'gatekeeper' bull****. Kessler was a solid champion and you can see a decline/difference in the year out between Haussler and Perdomo.

If anything his win over Froch is being overrated, the largest % of people knew Froch was good, not great.

The next big star comes along constantly. They have that title untill it changes. There are usually several going at once.

go and watch the fight again moron, the ref kept warning kessler every time ward fouled him and was constanly talking into kesslers ear all the way through the fight so he could'nt focus.he got frustrated at not being aloud to have a fair fight with an unbiased ref.what we got was a cheating fighter in ward and a ref that made sure ward won.go and watch the fight again.

Even though Kessler won he still had a great deal taken out of him in that loss to Calzaghe

people thought he was done and a mental midget but over came a tough fight with Froch and came oout on top

I pick him over Green in the next fight putting him in the final 4

LOL, the ref was talking only to Kessler now? LOL Damn you are a idiot. The ref was telling Kessler hands free, to let him know he could fight and that the action was not going to be halted, and apparantly Kessler did not know this. Either way the ref warned Andre about the headbutts in the fight.

I would say this, if Kessler is so mentally weak that a ref yelling hands free takes him off his whole game and allows him to be outclassed by a young green prospect, then he wasn't **** to begin with.

"If" Kessler was "ruined" by any fight, it was certainly the Ward fight. The Calzaghe fight was mostly uneventful. He held his own in that match. If he was ruined, it was totally coincidental.

Ward beat the hell out of him. So if Ward did not ruin him, Joe sure didn't.

You make sense. I do think Calzaghe's fight was the tipping point though, after the early rounds once Calz. ate his bombs and made adjustments, Kessler has not been the same.
