Maybe he is struggling to make the weight but regardless Nonito in the Phillipines is a bad career move for anyone. You would have to KO him to win.

If Nonito really wants the Montiel fight maybe he should move up?He is way more skillfull than Montiel but Montiel might have to much power for him at 118?
Either way Nonito needs to fight a big name soon cause even though he beat darchynian,he is a much smaller name than Vic is now because he didnt capitalize on his win.
Nonito needs to beat Vic again just to make a name for himself again...weird huh?
Even if nonito is the better fighter Vic is the man to beat at 115.

Montiel is an excellent fighter and very very strong and solid with his shots. Watch the Martin Castillo fight, he looked like a phenomenal fighter there. Also if you watch his fight vs. Maldonado and Vic's, you'll see Montiel having much easier time getting in with his punching and putting on damage.

It's a bit early, but I always felt Montiel would have Vic's number. He's physically strong, technically solid, very good chin, speed, timing, and I think the defense is there not to get caught all the time.

At this point, Darchinyan is clearly a better fighter he once was, so it's a tougher pick and I wouldn't make a prediction just now. But let's say a year back, I would've picked Montiel by stoppage. Very underrated guy, I was ready to pick him vs. Mijares.

LOL noob. there is a 100x more chance that you will win a decision in the philippines compared to thailand or germany.

so is that the reason he has to pull-out of the fight? donaire doesn't need to beat C-boxers and bums to be ready for vic and montiel. i'm afraid those two were avoiding donaire and would rather fight each other whom they feel are less riskier than donaire but much bigger money.

Yes Montiel can beat him, but it depends on how he adapts to that crazy style, because its quite clear that Mijares could not get to grips with it. However Montiel is a different fighter too Mijares more footspeed and good defence.

I thought Montiel beat Jhonny Gonzalez TBH, but then again i thought he lost too (Southpaw) Z Gorrez. That is why im not to sure, because Montiel does struggle with Southpaw fighters. Montiel struggled with Too Sharp Johnson aswell, another lefty.

Im pulling for my fav little fighter, but im not sure who would win, because of Montiel's problems with Southpaw's.

I'll be rooting for Montiel but if he doesn't stop Vic early he'll lose. Gorres is a decent southpaw ans he closed Montiel's eye with his straight left. Vic would beat him up if he doesn't get knocked out inside 6.
