Margarito would be a step back. The Hatton fight was very easy, in a sense it could be looked at as a tune-up. I think he should fight Cotto and Williams then retire.

Why isn't Floyd going after Pavlik ?

That would extend his range up to 160 and would certainly generate interest and $$$.

Not if he fights around once a year and claim himself to be the best of all time.

Why would the p4p no.1 fighter need a tune up fight? Instead of waiting 2 years to decide f he wants to fight again, he should just make the goddamn fight with Cotto. Every boxing fan wants this fight. Or will Floyd be content to sit around until Cotto loses before declaring interest in fighting him?

Margo is horrible and was exposed by a green Williams. Enough with this nonsense.

Why would Floyd need a tune up for? I hear so many saying this, it is a dome scratcher, because he is fighting his best, why the hell tune up?

    Agreed on all this.

Why would "the world's best boxer" need a tune up, or in other words, an easy-to-beat opponent? **** that! What a joke. If he's so good, he wouldn't need it. Right now he needs harder fights to prove himself before putting himself up there with the likes of Robinson and Ali.

    WTF!!
why would floyd fight margarito then make plans to fight cotto?!
or did you forget that cotto and margarto are both owned by arum?! I doubt if floyd is going to give arum a gift like that, even arum knows better then that, that's why he has yet to even talk about floyd vs margarito fight.
Arum sole focus is cotto vs floyd.
so stop making thread like this, its a waste of time unless for some reason floyd feels like being really, really nice to Arum and make arum some free money, which I doubt..
I also dubt that cotto would stand by arum, if arum made a margartio vs floyd unless he garunteed to fight the winner! And if that's floyd it would more money then arum would be willing to pay to make the fight happen, which is what happen the first time...

Does Joe Calzaghe deserve a tune-up fight before facing Hopkins?

    Lets say... hmmm... Calzaghe-Lacy II?

no, he's had enough handpicked opponents as it is in recent years.
N'Dou, Mitchell, Brussles, Gatti, Baldomir, Hatton.
Basically the only one who could not be considered taking an easy option is De La Hoya.
Time he faced Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Williams etc.

Margarito is not an easy fight, I consider an easy fight with an opponent who doesn't have neither speed or power, but Margo at least have power and Mayweather can't KO him, don't get me wrong Mayweather winning by UD is the most sure thing to happen but even Paul Williams with his speed and reach felt the punches of a slow Magarito and if Floyd stays on the ropes during the fight he will be hit with power body shots, of course that is if he stays on the ropes and the fight is a reality, everything else is just speculation.:???:
