Does Floyd have it easy, or does he makes it LOOK that way?

Floyd Mayweather may be the most skilled boxer of the last two decades. He embodies the idea of hit but not getting hit in a way that few other boxers I can think off.

However, even though he has faced top level opposition through is whole career, it's not all that easy to point out his signature wins. With other ATG's, like Roy Jones Jr, Emmanuel Pacquiao and Erik Morales, it's a lot easier.

On top of it, a few of Floyds fights have been close.

My question to ESB-members is if Floyd stands head and shoulders above everyone else, or if he's the kind of boxer who just barely pulled through?

He is the most defensively skilled fighter of the last 20 years...maybe..

Also, it is important to note that Mayweather admittedly does not take big risks, hence the reason his resume isn't that spectacular.

22 former or current champions 7 current or future HOFers, these are what is on Mayweathers resume. It is in fact spectacular.

I think he used to make it easier than he does now. Now he seems to rely on clinching a whole lot more than he used to. For me, it's harder to argue defensive genius with a person that is constantly hugging. No one calls Wlad a defensive genius. Obviously not the same kind of boxer but, I'm just saying, it was much more evident when Floyd was younger.

The man is best of this generation bar none. I'm big pacquiao fan but the skills of Floyd are unsurpassed in this era. I've rarely seen top 10 fighter struggle to lay a glove on a man over 12 rounds when the man is on point. Can't really blaming for not taking more offensive risks against bigger fighters.

Okay, now compare his resume to ODLH, Pacquiao, Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler, Ali, And the host of fighters who opted to fight the best instead of taking the safest route... that is how you solve that equation.

How about ducking fighters or waiting on fighters to look old or vulnerable?? Can we blame Mayweather for that? How about fighting featherweights and lightweights at 147...

Just FYI - 6 of 10 of Pacquiao's fights at 147 are against guys who weren't even ranked at 147 at the time. 4 of the bouts were fought against guys who hadn't won a fight at 147 in their entire career. (Marquez twice, Rios, and Algieri)

But I'm sure you'll tell me how Pac's resume is spectacular.

And in case you forgot: Mayweather started his career at 130 pounds. Not 147.

What does Pacquiao have to do with this conversation?

Is fighting non-ranked opposition 6 out of 10 fights at 147 "opting to fight the best?" Four of those fights against a guy who had NEVER won a fight in their entire career at 147.

Floyd makes it look east because he carefully chooses his opponents....

...he's no DLH, Duran, Ali, Robinson, Leonard...he isn't cut out of the same clothes as those ATGs, who fought the best consistently...

Ask Marvin Hagler about SRL taking on all challenges.:rofl

Seriously, SRL is the poster boy for what many people complain about from star boxers. SRL was known for "getting his way" in pre-fight negotiations.

Yes...Pacquiao had Morales, Barrera, and Marquez under his belt... all three were legitimate opposition and all three are ATGs... who did Floyd fight? His biggest win is against Corrales, Castillo, or Genaro.

You ducked the question as I knew you would.

Again: How is fighting 60% of your fights at a weight class against UNRANKED opposition "taking on challenges?"

We saw JMM fight Floyd. JMM doesn't compete with Floyd at any weight class.

SRL fought Duran in his prime. What ATG has Mayweather fought...in their prime?
