does floyd mayweather avoid his most dangerous challenges again and again?

The problem with that is that Floyd fans aren't Floyds manager. They don't have the power to decide who he fights. Ring Magazine may have their number 1 contender, but so does, the WBC,WBA,IBF,WBO, ESPN, yahoo, foxsports, etc. The point I'm trying to make is that there is no consensus number 1 contender in boxing nowadays. However, the sport can flourish as long as fighters are making fights that people want to see. As much as people want to criticise Floyd, he's been making the fights that people want to see. The numbers back up this theory. If Floyd continues to fight, I'm sure his next fight will be a fight that the people want. I think Cotto has a good chance of being that person.

But this is the argument. We want someone to be given a chance to do something about it. Hatton was not a major threat to Floyd. The top welters are way more of a threat to him and should be given the opportunity to prove it. When they try and fail, it'll only further cement Floyd's legacy no?

 

I remember when this fight was made. At first, he tried to fight Spinks. However, there was alot of fan backlash from that proposed match. Combine the lack of interest from the fans, along with Spinks' pending mandatory, and the fans' desire to see Money May fight Baldo, and you can see why he never fought Spinks.

As far as Margo is concerned, yeah Arum supposedly came up with an 8 mill offer. However, the offer was contngent upon the fight taking place in October(HBO set aside Nov. for Floyd to fight). When you combine the fact that HBO may have not been behind the fight, with the fact that Arum wasn't offering any ppv percentages, and the bad blood between Arum and Mayweather, well you can obviously see why the fight didn't happen.

That fight did roughly the same amount of buys as the Cotto/Mosely fight.

 

No doubt. That's why I applaude him. He signed to fight Judah and fought him, even though Judah lost his fight with Baldo. He then beat the man that beat Judah and claimed himself a title. But even so, there are more threats to him out there and we just want to see them made.

Floyd hasnt beaten all the top guys in any one division. He has the opportunity to change that and show the world that he is indeed THE SUPER STAR.

 

Don't bother, Arum won't release any official ppv numbers anymore. He claims the Cotto/Mosely fight did roughly 400k. I doubt he would give out a low number; meaning the fight probably did around 350k. I believe the May/Baldo fight did around 325k
