He doesn't need to fight him. But it'll do his legacy a damn well better if he does!

IF they did fight and Floyd wins, he wont get too much credit. He is so skilled he is supposed to win. Lets say he fought Pacman and lost in a SD, he would be scrutinized for ever but if Pac lost in a SD he would still be looked at as an all time great, which he is. (Though I think Pac would get KO'd)

Of course as a boxing fan I want this fight to happen but Floyd has alreaady cementd his ATG status as the best fighter of his era in my opinion. He has won 7 belts in 5 weight classes with an undefeated record and has been a champion for the past 14 years, name another fighter who has those credentials:good

    He needs Martinez.

IF he cannot get Martinez then he needs Manny, but even a win over Manny will always be taineted with the *"smaller man". So really he needs Martinez first and foremost.

The same could be said about Pac though.

If Pac beats Floyd, people will just say Floyd was shot, and to look at the Ortiz fight for evidence of his decline.

No they wouldn't and you wouldn't either. They will say I told you he cherry picked his whole career as most haters think is the case.

Also, are you obsessed with Ortiz? Not even being funny but everytime I read a post from you this past week or so you mention the Mayweather-Ortiz fight. Here we are talking about Floyd vs. Manny and yet you still bring up Victor

I think Floyd is alreadly on the decline, but it's psychological and fundamental. As an athlete, I think he's still in his peak.

And the reason why I suggest this is because that's what he showed me in his last fight, which happened to be against Victor Ortiz.

Perhaps, Floyd was rusty...but it's difficult to say. You can only speculate at this point.

Fair enogh regarding your frequent mentioning of the Ortiz fight

Is floyd on the decline ... of course. To me has been on the decline since the Hatton fight. But at the same time he has and still is ad******g his style to be more aggressive versus just outbox opponents. But I don't tink its physchological and fundamemntal as you suggest. I actually think it is athletically. He cant float around the ring like he once could and due to his hand issues, he cant throw combos on a consistent basis anymore (which I think is a big reason for the layoffs to allow his body to heal).

But he is still a master of chess in the ring and his lack of taking punishment in his career well perserve him for the last fights of his career
