Heard a interview where he said victory against Bute would make him a ATG. Do you agree? I know Bute hasnt done anything special but to win again when hes the underdog would be amazing and his run of his fights is as hard as anyones in recent times.

nah. . he'd be possible hall of famer depending on what bute goes on to accomplish, and what froch does thereafter.

no i think the key to him getting into the hof would be to win rematches against kessler or ward imo

You're confusing ATG resume with ATG wins. He's had a GREAT string of opponents. As good, if not better than anyone in recent times or in history. However there is that aspect of winning qualities. He had a close and controversial win vs Dirrell, good win vs Pascal which looked better when Pascal went on to beat Dawson, good win vs Taylor, but Taylor proved to be weathered (good win nontheless), good win vs Abraham even though Abraham can easily be outboxed by most, good win vs Johnson but harder than expected.

So he's had some good wins, but two that mattered most vs Kessler and Ward, he lost. He was competitive, but he lost. So I think while he's got a killer resume, he's still lacking that killer win(s) against the odds. That COULD have come vs Kessler or Ward but it didn't. Now he's against the odds right now vs Bute and this could help his HOF standing.

However, I agree that return matches and wins vs Kessler and Ward would do great justice as well as beating Bute.

No. Bute is basically unproven. A victory over Bute is significant in the current landscape but would not prove far reaching.

All one has to do is watch Froch fight to see that he is not near atg.

Geez, even going into the fight with a broken hand, Ward beat him easy.
