Does Fury/Rahman, Buckland on the April 16th Card Make it PPV Worthy?

To be fair, when you consider that Jhonny Gonzalez vs Jackson Asiku was $50 over in the States, £15 for a slightly lower quality fight with an alright undercard isn't too bad.

 

It doesn't take a genius to work out Khan against a European champion that hasn't really fought anybody of any note on the world stage isn't PPV worthy on a boxing/competitive level. Maybe Khan's hardcore and the Irish are going to pay up for this, which at the end of the day is all that counts. I'm just saying its not that much of a great fight, if this is PPV worthy on a boxing level virtually anything is.

 

The Fury fight is an interesting one. Could see Rahman sparking him out.

 

I'd rather pay £15 for this weekend's Vegas card feat. Maidana and the rest.

The Khan card is at best an old Friday Fight Night. Fury's getting poleaxed.

 

Different markets and all that.

Plus Asiku-Gonzalez was a fringe PPV that none of the networks wanted. Not like it was a HBO or Showtime PPV.

Anyway, the value of a PPV is down to the individual. If you think it's worth it then buy it, if not - don't. Everyone's not going to agree.

Personally, this card is not worth £15 of my money.

I'm not trying to defend the fight. Personally, I'm not going to pay for it, I'm going to find a, erm, different way to watch it, just trying to offer up an alternative perspective. The Gonzalez-Asiku was just an example, many PPV's stateside are in excess of $50, which makes this not too bad in comparison. But when you get used to paying a certain amount for a good PPV card, your not going to pay the exact same for an event that doesn't match up at all, which is how I view it.

Even the crappiest, most low-budget American Pay Per View is more than $20-25 (the rough equivalent of £15). The Latin Fury cards headlined by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., for instance are typically in the $30 range (about £20).

Of course, I don't even have the option of purchasing a British PPV so with 'available methods' it's all free to me. To be fair, though - many of our expensive upscale PPVs (particularly the $50 and $60 HBO ones) have supposedly been aired free on SKY so it isn't as though the scales are out of balance in our favor. :yep

 

Is Maidana-Morales ppv in Ameria this weekend? Sky have that on without being ppv and we have had plenty of marquez, pacquiao, mayweather fights shown on normal sky in the last couple of years so we can't really complain in comparison with America. Still not buying the Khan ppv though

 

I don't mind paying £15 every so often for some boxing, watch all the Saturday Fight Nights and other American cards they televise so all in all its worth it to me. I also have Premier Sports and think they come out with some good stuff for £6.99 a month and i just think of it as a couple of pints or one less night out to make up for it.

 

In the US at least 'fringe' fights are generally made available on PPV for those that really want to watch them. How many big fights have we missed out on? It's only recently Premier have started picking some quality fights up and Setanta before them.

 

The Maidana-Morales farce is indeed a PPV - a $50 (or £30-35) one - but I'm not buying it.
