But its not. Usyk would have stopped him if he hit him a few more times, and there are refs who will let him. So its not.
I doubt it, Fury loves money too much to retire just like that, he will have more fights, even if they are insignificant fights just to make extra money...
If the ref didn't intervene, Usyk would have landed shots on a fallen opponent, which isn't legal. It's in the referees best interest to give both fighters the benefit of the doubt and avoid as much controversy as possible. Same would have happened if the roles were reversed, so a ref prematurely waving off the fight or allowing illegal shots would be very unlikely. I can see we have different views on this, so I'll leave it there.
Soon the war between Russia and Ukraine will be over. The West don't need to support Ukraine anymore. Therefore, The West will take the belts back from the Ukrainian and give them back to the big cash cow. Fury will win by controversial decision on 21 December.
I never said he's magically jumping to number 2. I said, that it again opens the discussion who's number 2 and that their fight would settle the debate.
Except that it wouldn't, because that would imply that AJ is in the top 3 which he currently isn't. Even if he beats Fury, which is highly unlikely, the second best of the era wouldn't be him. Their era isn't over yet, and other fighters may well surpass them both by beating Usyk if he decided to carry on.
He currently isn't in Top 3 (neither will be Fury in case he loses) but Dubois didn't do enough yet to surpass him when it comes to the resume between 2015 and now. We may see the last dance of this era greats in a week. We'll see.
Dubios KO'd "the best ever AJ" coming of "an impressive 4 win streak" after a continually impressive run himself. AJ fans can't live in the past and ignore his losses forever.
I think there is a decent chance Fury will "retire" if he loses. He is already talking a lot about how old he is and feels, which has a different tone to the normal bs he is saying all the time. Saying that I reckon he will still do the Joshua fight, even if it is a couple years down the line like Khan vs Brook was. Part of Fury's decision, will also depend on how the rest of the division looks. If Parker, Dubois, Zhang, Kabayel, Bakole etc look great, there is a higher chance of retirement.
