Was he heavily favored against Bivol? By who? Any non-casual boxing fan knew that it was not an easy fight for canelo. What were the odds for Bivol and what are the odds for ggg3?

Truth be told, Clenelo should be 0-3 against Eurasian heat even though GGG was well past his prime for the first fight, shot to bits for the rematch and Clen was obviously jacked full of his PEDs for that one.

Let's not forget, many of the people who picked Clen to beat Bivol also picked him to beat Beterbiev and if they didn't outright pick him to beat Usyk they secretly believed he might be able to pull it off or they at least gave him a good/reasonable chance of doing so.

We told them Bivol possessed everything he needed to beat him and not only did he prove us right but he didn't even need to move out of second gear to do so.

We told that Beterbiev would literally pound that massive ginger melon of his into mush

As for ginger beating Usyk. Jesus wept! :risas3::facepalm:

Yes it's true Canelo does get hate & many times due to his own inactions/reactions as well as other different factors out of his hands,

But allot of the time its too excessive, among all that is said he is still a very skilled fighter & is a hard nights work for anyone to beat either way.

Chances are really small. I doubt we’ll see a KO or TKO here, most likely a unanimous decision.

I doubt Golovkin will go for broke or even use the pressure style from fight 1, a replay of fight 2 is more likely but he’s even slower now so a win for him is highly unlikely.

Canelo looked like he aged overnight against Bivol and started that long slope downwards. GGG is already on that slope at 40 obviously. Who has more momentum going down the hill? I kinda think they are on an even descent and that this will be a 50/50 fight and very entertaining.

    No. Not imo.

Canelo wins clearly, 8 rounds to 4.

Late stoppage here for Canelo wouldn't surprise me either.

Wladimir Klitschko was literally never given an unfair decision, unfair to compare him to Chavez

We have different definitions of “beat the snot out of”. Bivol boxed canelos ears off and landed some great shots, but it wasn’t some beat down. Pacquiao Cotto would be more appropriate.

I think you misunderstood me which is probably my fault for not phrasing it properly.

Look at the primary attribute Bivol used to beat Canelo. It isn't height, reach or agility and speed of foot per say that got him the win. It was because he outsmarted Canelo by being the smarter fighter. All those other attributes you listed were just bonus points to further the advantage he had over Canelo. He knew exactly when to engage and because of that, he picked Canelo apart just like Mayweather did.

Case in point, the old arm punching trick won't work because Bivol showed how to nullify that (his corner helped too as they came prepared for it). Rope-a-dope was useless because Bivol refused to engage. Canelo can't deal with combination attacks that well either. Sure you can argue GGG can't replicate Bivol's speed, but he doesn't need to given that a 168 GGG will be hitting harder than 175 Bivol (according to Canelo who compared Bivol's power at 175 to be about the same as GGG at 160).

Actually I think you did make a case for GGG without realizing it.

Canelo stated Bivol at 175 hit like GGG at 160, I'd imagine a GGG at 168 will be the hardest hitter Canelo has ever faced. Canelo would be leaving himself open to that if he attempts to fight up close which will be equally as devastating as it would be for the slower GGG, whom frankly is equally as good of a counter puncher.

Just about every pro fighter out there who commented on Bivol vs Canelo including the commentators heavily favored Canelo to beat Bivol. Only a few thought Bivol had a solid chance of winning.

Great points! I suggested much the same on another thread, in that Bivol showed a 'cerebral' blueprint on when and how to engage Canelo to maximise rythym disruption and resets. Hos straight jab to the body was highly effective as well, and the body is something that GGG almost entirely neglected in the first 2 fights with Canelo; I totally get this was most likely related to being countered, but given 'nelos well documented stamina issues, and how effective it was for Bivol, it's something GGG and his team should really be looking at closely.

What I'm probably most interested in this fight is how Canelo actually approaches the bout - curiously, since GGG2, Canelo has more or less completely changed his fighting style, all but abandoning his boxing smarts and investing in a "chop down the tree" style, heavily skewed on setting his feet and delivering fully-loaded body and arm shots designed to weaken his opponent. And to be fair to Alvarez, it has worked awesome for him against B & C level opposition (shot Kova, Callum Smith, Saunders, Yildirim & Plant)

But obviously this strategy fell woefully short against an elite operator in Bivol, and what I was most surprised at in that fight is that Canelo and his corner had ZERO adjustments or plan B/C etc.

So I'm curious if Canelo will stick with that style - GGG being perceived as weak to the body & old with slower feet makes me think he probably will - or refine that style into something a bit more considered.

The reason I note this is that Bivol blueprint probably only has efficacy against Canelo the Tree Chopper, less so against the older style Alvarez who didn't set his (fairly slow) feet as much and used his agility and defence and excellent counter punching to great use.

It would be fairly amusing to me from a Karmic pov if he sticks with that 'walk through the fire to destroy' approach and GGG was the one to make him pay with a knockdown or even a KO - because I think Canelo gained so much confidence in his chin and defence from GGG 1&2, it was the catalyst for him changing his style.

The sadist in me still wants to see Canelo vs Beterbiev.

That would be the icing on the cake and a way to overturn all the injustices that Cartel Canelo have inflicted upon boxing.

Is there any chance that we'll see a rejuvenated GGG at 168 and a diminished Canelo after going up and down in weight?

Thats another good point about his style changing. I recall seeing a video of Tyson pointing out that Canelo wasn't attempting to move and he abandoned his jab which is why Bivol was able to take advantage of him. His corner not making any adjustments just begs the question of why, considering in previous fights they were willing to do so. Maybe they actually thought Canelo was winning or would break down Bivol at some point.

I think he's going to change up against GGG this time around and not be willing to trade just because the risks are rather high for him if he loses.
