    That's a brutal finish!

I think GGG has better accuracy with a much higher percentage of his work. He seems to be able to connect exactly where the arc of each punch is at its strongest with the least amount of effort.

its a little hard for me to call, imo GGG is still a little unproven simply because he is a late pro starter and still hasn't fought any elite type of fighters.

that said, I love his power, just not sure he hits harder than the Hurricane :think

Golovkin is not THAT hard a puncher.

He does not project the same, shattering power as the P4P great power punchers.

What he does do is fight with amazing balance, (hard to punch ferociously when you aren't putting all your body into it) and his shots are all hurtful. He works off timing and placement instead of relying on blasting the opposition out of there. His sweet, sweet, left to the liver is not a brutal shot for example, but it outshines most harder punches to the ribs, because it is bang-on-target.

Oh yes he is that hard of a puncher.

I am prepared to believe that he might have hit as hard as any 160 pounder in history.

There are still unanswered questions about him, but his power is not one of them.

:thumbsup I've no problem with that statement. Golovkin is one of my favourites. I still think his effectiveness is punch placement and timing more than brute power though :deal

    I believe his sparring partners.

Just too many of them all saying the same thing.

    Good post. :good

He gets so much more out of each impact than anyone else with far less effort because of all the reasons you mentioned.

It translates into power and hurt. He's just as destructive. He just not having to launch anyone as hard to do it.

He hasnt proven his power against anyone even remotely in the class of some of the guys Carter knocked down and out and I think Carter is monumentally overrated, what does that say about Golovkin?

I would never presume to mock your boxing acumen.
I am regularly outclassed on this forum and do not need any further humiliation.

There comes a point where opponent and sparring partner testimony counts for something.

If one opponent/sparring partner says it, then you take it with a grain of salt.

If multiple opponents/sparring partners are saying the same thing, then it looks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it is a duck.

More than one sparring partner has said that Golovkin hit them harder than Kovalev.

Light heavyweights who have sparred with him compare his power to heavyweights.

I am not saying that he is a great fighter, but his power might well be up there with Fitzsimons and Ketchell!

But is it actual power or the fact that he's SO accurate and each punch hurts? His technique and timing means each punch is almost too perfect. Is that power?

Your only as good as the opponent lets you look.

    Sparring partners know.

They see the man at his best, and at his worst.

If they keep drooling over his power, that is good enough for me.
