but when ggg fans say "well hey look at what Bernard did at mw....by age 33"....I don't think theyre expecting ggg to quite do what Bernard has done on the whole...I think they are feeling like if he does what Bernard did at mw then hell be held in the same regards.....at least that's the vibe I get......I highly doubt ggg is ever going to lhw to compete with some of the top lhws in the world....or fight the best 168 and 175lber like nard did with calzaghe and kovalev.....that alone is better than anything than ggg has done even in losses....

At the same stage of their careers, you could certainly make a case that GGG's MW run has been better, so far.

Remember, BHop's greatness doesn't rest solely on his MW run.

His most touted wins at the weight include welterweights Delahoya and Trinidad, one of whom had absolutely no pedigree at MW, and the other had very little more.

Hopkins reputation rests partly on the longevity of twenty unremarkable defences at MW, but more importantly, his subsequent wins at LHW (and cw) over Tarver, Pavlik, and Pascal at an age when most boxers are in rocking chairs.


Looking just at the first five years of their respective MW reigns:

Bernard was 30 yrs old when he picked up his first piece of the title in 1994.

GGG was 28 when he picked up his first piece of the title in 2010.

Vacant it not Hopkins won a legitimate major title, not a intriem title or a regular title or any of that bullsh!t.

GGG won a jv title and didn't become an actual Champ til 2013/14", Hopkins was a legit Champ from the jump.

The point is, Bernard did not become universally recognized during his first five years of holding part of the title, and neither has GGG.

BHop was recognized by the RING as the champion after his 14th 'defence.'

Gennady's competition over the similar four year period in their careers compares very favourably with Bernard's, despot fools like Scar taking about 'tomato cans' in reference to Murray, Stevens, Lemieux, Macklin etc.
