Does GGG have the weakest "RUN" of 160 champs in recent memory?

Bro Strum was the WBA MW Champ until 2012/13, GGG has a minor bs WBA Title and only became the actual WBA Champ in 2013/14".

    A perfectly legit comparison.

GGG is a MW and has never been anything else.

    Bernard was a Light heavyweight.

    Then he was a Middleweight.

And then a Light heavyweight again.

If you want to talk about his MW credentials, it only makes sense to stick to Bernard's MW accomplishments when comparing him to GGG.

Folks aren't saying that GGG is on BHop's level overall.

All they're saying is that GGG's reign can be compared to THE MW PORTION OF BHOP'S CAREER.

    Fairly straightforward.

And this has been pointed out.

    Several times !
    (See post # 43 and post #66)

That part is not knowable and irrelevant.

We need to wait till both careers are over to make that judgment.

Bernard never fought anybody of Ward's stature when he was in his prime at MW.

Again, GG's smaller than Hopkins. Wanting him to fight Kovalev would be a stretch.

    Great post.

This is what people fail to realise.

I can understand the fans frustrations though. I'm also frustrated.

Like I've previously mentioned, if it was now 1998, there'd probably be a number of members questioning Bernard's run, and asking why he wasn't fighter better competition at SMW/LHW.

    Correct.

He made his defences with the belt that Roy had relinquished when he moved up to fight Toney at SMW.

Boxing has become a joke today with all of the belts.

I understand the points you have made.

Bernard won a legitimate belt, which was the IBF, which was then one of the main three. But Cuchulain also has a point. Bernard didn't beat a champ for that belt. It was vacant after Roy had relinquished it. And it took him two attempts. Although to be fair, I've heard that the altitude in Ecuador hampered his performance.

David Lemieux was considered the legitimate IBF champ when he recently fought GG. But we know that he obtained the belt after beating N'Dam when the title was vacant.

Again, I understand your point. I don't put much value in a lot of today's belts, and the champions that wear them.

Wilder is another example. He's only beaten Stiverne, who himself won the vacant title against Arreola.

You have to put everything into context.

Of course, but I support his comments.

It's silly doing direct comparisons, when GG is still an active MW.

It's much fairer to do it after his run comes to an end.

I agree, and in my opinion, Keith Holmes is very underrated.

But at GG's current age, Bernard hadn't fought Holmes, Joppy and Tito. So again, what's the point in doing a direct comparison?
