He may get the decision if he truly dominates Canelo or gets multiple knockdowns. I hope he knows that going in.

I agree that Golovkin will have to stop Canelo to win. Golovkin doesn't have enough money behind him to get a fair shake from the judges.

Or at least 2 knockdowns... Or batter Canelo and force him to the backfoot for 12 rounds.

It was a close fight but Golovkin deserved the win.

GGG has clearly slowed down, I still make him a slight favourite but with Canelos counter punching ability, seemingly improved stamina (he didn't even sit on his stool during the Chavez fight) and impressive combination and body punchin is gunna give GGG problems.

Now the problem with Canelo's style is he tends to fight mid range and has slow feet. Both play into GGGs hand, GGG is most dangerous at midrange where he can get full extensions on his punches, Jacobs did well because he would smother GGG throw shots and then move out of the pocket, his footspeed was troubling GGG.

So Canelo will have to have the perfect game plan or it will become a fire fight which will play into the more powerful man's hand which is GGG.

Lol sorry bout the long reply which was tryna give you an idea of my line of thinking on this fight, there are still other nuances that I didn't even go into but hope that answers it.

That's how I see it. Hes lost a step, most can see it, it's the only reason he's moved up Canelo. I hope ggg has enough left in the locker for this one. I'd have 1 more fight after this and retire if I was him, and that's only if it's against Saunders. If I couldn't get Saunders I think I'd retire. Ggg is one of the best middles ever I feel, just never had the fights to showcase what he had when prime. Cheers for replying jmashyaka !

GGG will need nine rounds and at least two KD's to win a decision. Kovalev won eight possibly nine rounds with one KD and that was not enough and there is even more financial motivation to rob GGG in this fight.

Cucknelo won one round vs Floyd and he got a draw on one card.

Oscar will own the judges, referee and boxing commission. I suspect Lawrence Cole will be the the criminal referee, Cole's father is the boxing commissioner of the state of TexASS, which is where the fight will be, so the judges have already filled out their cards for El Pollo....................if the fight were in Vegas, the judges hate Eastern European fighters, so the judges will be for El Pollo there also, but not as much as TexASS...............I still think Golovkin will knock El Pollo out. El Pollo refused the fight unless he got a rematch clause and Golovkin could not get a rematch clause, this smells of cheating.

Although everyone knows that not even Floyd got a fair shake against him, dominating towards a majority decision, I don't think Canelo can make it competitive enough to take it on the scorecards.

There's one issue in this fight that makes me believe that, and that's because Alvarez will get backed up a lot in this. Pushing forward like he's used to will only get him KO'd for his trouble, which means he will get outboxed and be the one in retreat during that fight. No method of scoring would favor him that way.

Yeah I agree, I think Canelo and Oscar are looking at this as an opportunity to capitalise on his decline however it could easily back fire as Canelo is not the fastest mover. I have a feeling their hope will be if they can take him to points then they will have the judges paid off no matter what.

I agree with your opinion of GGG slightly I think he is a top 10 atg middle but because he has fought in a weak middleweight era and a lot of the former champions ducked him (Martinez, Sturm, Cotto, Canelo) he never really got the chance to build a great resume. I personally would have liked to see him move up and accepts Wards challenge or take the low money and beat Canelo earlier because then he would have been in a much better position by now legacy wise and financially but I have a feeling his team were not confident enough for either risks.

If he beats Canelo, then your right BJS to completely unify and I think a Jacobs rematch to clear any doubt about the result of the first fight then he's solidified his place as maybe a top 5 MW.

No problem bro, it was good to get your insight too.
