I wouldn't say better, because wasn't his most recent opposition Raul Marquez? Who beat Lorenzo to earn a shot at Abraham.

You'll probably bring up Oral. Who was obviously nothing more than a stay busy fight. While Kelly Pavlik continues to hide under Bob Arums desk.

Its not Arthurs fault his division is weak at the moment. And that the only opponent that provides a challenge doesn't want to fight him.

Marquez isn't a better fighter than Lorenzo just because he beat him on the best night of his recent life while Giovanni was pretty green and thin on experience against top opp. :nono He was the better man that night.

Wait when a guy beats you he's not a better fighter?

I guess that counts for everybody in boxing than :patsch.

Right now there are two things keeping Pavlik out of the ring. First, he wanted some time with his family. Second, money for a decent fight. Rumor has it that the Mora fight would have damned near been a charity event on his part. Considering the crap that has gone on, I actually wish he had taken the fight and stayed busy though.

You ever make use of that link I gave you a while back? Often wondered about that.

Is this really a new concept to you, that someone can overachieve? That someone can be the better man on a given night, but have no right to that claim in a general sense? Welcome to the sport. Here's your keychain and decoder ring.

Pavlik's people had originally planned on that fight in November after Mora. This comes from private conversations I had with someone close enough to 'count'. Again, this is about money. Not to beat a dead horse, but geez. My knee hurts and I've been out working in the garage and I'd rather be pounding the keyboard right now. :yep

I think he laid out his opinion pretty clearly. While there isn't much point to it, he is saying that Lorenzo wins 2 out of 3? Just so happens Marquez took the first.

I don't know about that. I've seen Lorenzo enough times now to know I'm not impressed with him. He's slow, he doesn't throw many punches, he's not particularly technically proficient and he has massive holes in his defense. Lorenzo finally found an opponent that wouldn't lie down for him, and he got beat. He didn't seem to improve on anything in the Miranda fight afterwards, except in that fight he was noticably less conditioned. Not a step in the right direction if you ask me.

Hell, his second best opponent, Archak Termeleksetian, probably would have beaten Lorenzo as well had he not started puking during the middle of the fight. Even someone like Ray Joval would box circles around Lorenzo if he doesn't get knocked out.

Ugh no there's no such thing as over achievement in boxing. Maybe in ***** ass sports. But not the sweet science.

Thats a weakass concept, only a person who cries and makes excuses could come up with that.

Thats like saying Shane Mosley was lucky when he destroyed Margarito. Since he was the underdog in the fight. Or Hopkin was at the right place at the right time when he took Kelly Pavlik to school. Because he was old and Kelly Pavlik was a young lion.

Naw take that overachievement crap to weak ass sport like Tennis son.

Whose Lorenzo beaten anyway to warrant such acclaim? You make it sound like he's unbeatable. Which Marquez proved he wasn't.

Marquez had just drawn with an old Bronco McKart. It'd be like if Yory Boy Campas suddenly beat a young prospect. Sure, if he fights his ass off, he probably has it in him. Do you expect it? No.
