I don't know, call me crazy but maybe we shouldn't put too much stock in boxer's opinions to support our arguments.

The common "who hit me the hardest" lore especially is riddled with contradictions and tall tales. 99% of the time, they always pick a fighter whom they defeated.

Larry Holmes can say Shavers and all these other guys hit harder than Tyson till he's blue in the face. We have footage of Tyson's punches relieving the man of his senses like nobody else before or after. **** what Larry Holmes says.

Only Hulk Hogan hits harder than GGG; or was it that green Hulk? I don't remember. It was a long time since the little wiener in the comic book store told me. He also told me Wonder Woman has bigger breasts than James Toney, but it was only by an inch or so.

Those idiots saying they SPARRED heavyweights and Golovkin hits harder, didn't take into consideration that it was a sparring session and the heavyweight was probably not trying to hit a middleweight as hard as he could.

When Larry Holmes made the statement about Marciano not being able to carry his jock strap....it was the time of the Spinks fight. He lost to Spinks. A lot of discussion occurred among the trainers and writers that knew Marciano and Holmes as to who would win a match between the two. One of the quotes......sorry I can't remember the name....that summed up a wide variety of the opinion was ....'Holmes would be well ahead on points right up until Marciano knocked him out.' One thing certain....if Spinks can beat Holmes...Marciano certainly could have. One boxers punching power versus another is a very subjective thing. There is power and then there is the ability to deliver it and whether or not a fighter carries it throughout the fight. another matter is not being knocked out yourself...if your out it doesn't matter how much power you have..yes. Noone ever knocked Marciano out. Marciano was one of the very best conditioned in boxing history. He would not be deterred and refused to lose. He hit one guy and drove his upper teeth into the palate. People that impugn him...or any fighter of the past....often assume that someone from the past...because they are in the past are not as good as today's crop. The great's....Sugar Ray Robinson...Joe Lous....Marciano...the late Sanchez....well hell the list goes on....would not have trouble competing today. When the great Muhammad Ali fought him....and yes it was not the standard Madison Square fight....he stopped after a couple of weeks....but returned a few weeks later. In an interview years later he was asked why he walked away. He replied....(paraphrasing) 'I am not trying to sell tickets now or hype a fight....Marciano hit my arms and sides so hard that I just couldn't move and I didn't want to go through it." raise all the hell you want that is close to what he said. He also said that pride brought him back...not more money. Ali had a lot of respect for Marciano's power and ability and said he deserved his high ranking. That is good enough for me.

Marciano punched harder than Golovkin, Joe Louis said he could break your arms. Golovkin does punch extremely hard though, but Marciano punched extremely hard for a heavyweight!!! Ali said that Marciano would knock him out..............

 

That's probably Wilder's best win.

 

The heavyweight would just turn up the heat to fit Golovkin's pace.
