Foster aint built like Rocky and Golovkin. These guys swipe like bears and their opponents buckle throughout their bodies. Foster was more like Canelo as a puncher. Speed, heavy fists. Golovkin is like Foreman and Marciano. Their arms look like they slowly float through the air. And when the fist lands, an unexpectedly huge impact. It's true that a good jab from a SHW is like a power punch. Willards jabs were really pushing Dempseys head back badly. One guys at my gym is 178lb. Awesome fighter, stylistically similar to Dempsey. I've seen him spar HWs and SHWs, and never seen him get beat up. When these guys land a jab it pushes his head back badly. But he can land power body shots and OH rights almost as easily as they can land a jab.
Marciano wasn't a heavyweight. He was a light heavyweight or small modern cruiserweight. He was 180 pounds. But no matter how much I hate that joke of a fighter Marciano the odds are Marciano punched harder than a 160 pound fighter. That being said I would pick GGG to knock out Marciano. If a 250 year old glass chin Archie Moore who was a natural middleweight could floor Marciano with one punch. GGG would knock Marciano out.
Fair. He did take ten rounds to KO Ouma. Here's what else he did: 36 - 0 33 KOs Stunning performances. Synonymous with power in modern boxing. Also, a legitimate sparring partner made this admission that GGG hits harder than Povetkin. Weighing everything together, it's totally believable. Singling out one instance, and ignoring everything else is dumb. Have you done your research? Countless of sparring partners, fight opponents, and witnesses have talked about Golovkin punching way too hard for a MW. It's a pretty known fact that Golovkin punches above his weight class. I mean, have you seen the guy hit the bag?
“The dude can hit, I’m still getting used to it,” said Imoesiri, who like Coyne, is delightfully bright and articulate. “It’s crazy. I sparred with [undefeated WBA heavyweight beltholder] Alexander Povetkin and he never hurt me like this guy. “I must have done 50 rounds while in camp with Povetkin and it was three and half weeks before he hit me with something that made me hold on. With Golovkin I was ready to get out of the ring 45 seconds into our first round of sparring. He hit me with two lefts to the body in the identical spot and had me doubled over. I got through it but it’s hard to defend against 6-inch punches with that much pop. He backs me into a corner with just a jab. “And it seems like he does it effortlessly.” “That’s why I have to put him in with big guys,” said Sanchez. “He’s too relaxed when he spars with middleweights or junior middleweights. They can’t hurt him. It’s so easy doesn’t bother to defend himself. He gets silly.
Interesting interview but I'm always skeptical about these things. Darnell Boone also apparently said that he feels Golovkin's punches more in 16 ounce gloves than he felt Kovalev's punches in 10 ounce gloves. Are we to believe then that Golovkin hits much, much harder than Kovalev?
This guy was okay sparring Povektin for 3 weeks. And said he wanted nothing to do with GGG after 1 minute. Isn't is surreal? It's like we're in the 1910's all over again.
He does hit harder than Kovalev. And Kovalev hits very hard. Now that I think about it, he freaking dropped Kovalev. You can only gleam so much from that, but he did drop him with a body shot.
“He’s a f__king beast,” said Coyne, a 20-0 cruiserweight prospect who has recently dropped down to light heavyweight. “I’ve sparred with heavyweights who can punch, including Mariusz Wach and Mike Perez, nobody has hit me as hard as Golovkin. His power is out of this world.” These testimonials don't stop. They're everywhere, and they keep coming in. I'm telling you. That shoulder snap is some nasty business. https://streamable.com/r6780 Look, it shakes his whole body.
Golovkin is simply a wrecking machine, it's unreal how his opponents from early in his fights after he's unloaded just a few shots simply go into survival mode. Having said that would Rocky Marciano have took 5 rounds to see off a welterweight in Kell Brook who was still on his feet and not decked, or 11 rounds to see off Martin Murray? I think it's a stretch to say he hits harder than Marciano.
Lol Dempsey was cut from that cloth too, surely. With a powerful shoulder snap you can do serious damage with short jolts on the inside. Dempsey Louis Rocky The best punchers.
