when I first heard this fight was being made I had to stop and think a second"well....why" is about what I thought. at 18-3 he isnt exactly Da man! or anything. hes lost to a bunch of guys who are good solid fighters but many many levels below Miguel Cotto (though its worth mentioning that the fights gonna be at 147 and One of the guys who beat him now fights at 169...and that he beat said fighter earlyer)

but just based on pure talent and ability...does he actualy have a chance? I honestly think...he might. he may just catch Cotto looking past him (to fights with Mayorga and Mayweather)

what do you all think? I mean dont get me confused...I'm betting on Cotto by TKO but does Gomez actualy have a fighting chance to win this?

Of course he has a chance, but he will get beaten badly. I really like Alfonso, I like him so much that I'm going to watch Woods vs. Tarver because I don't want to watch him get destroyed.

Man, I hope he does. I'd like to see a good scrap. However, just overall, Cotto is at a different level in the game. I think it'll be a punishing 12 rnd. decision or it ends on a stoppage.

odds are not in his favour but any man who picks him . dam if they win they will get sum LOOT. and if they make a break down and predict a gomez win will make bret sugar look like a novice.

but on that note i don't know who im picking i'll wait till another week

No. I don't know why they fed him to the wolves just because he beat Arturo Gatti, as if that is any kind of accomplishment at this time. It would look very bad, but, also be HILLARIOUS if Gomez beats (I'm talking Knock out here) the only man most of the boxing world believes can dethrone Floyd Mayweather Jr. The odds for Cotto would be so outrageously high, the few people who picked Gomez would probably make the Forbes richest list.

I agree, Gomez has no chance IMO, but for someone like him to step up this this level of figter is a credit to him and Im sure he'll make a decent fight of it until seccoming to Cotto's superior ability.

Umm no. He has about a 1% chance imo; maybe slightly less. Can anyone name something that he does better than Cotto? Didn't think so

Gomez is going to get crushed. He doesn't have much of a chance at all.

Everyone has a CHANCE, but Gomez doesn't have a good one.

whatever poor alfonso makes is probably going to go to the hospital bill. He might as well not show up at all and cite that he had to stay home to watch that chicken tuna casserole he made in the oven.

I thought he would'nt have a chance against Gatti, and African cuz with tha scars on his cheek(cant remember his name) so being that he won both of those (CONVINCINGLY) he urnes enough respect from me to say he has a chance. Not a good one, but a better one then yall r giving him.

Gomez has very little chance, not impossible, but highly improbable.

I think he'll at least keep it entertaining for the first few rounds.

a chance to win.. or a chance of not get humiliated?

depends on what kind of chance you're talking about.... cuz i mean, he's not a bum by any means,.. beating even a shot gatti, stills means something, not to mention his size.. but on the other hand, he may look that way fighting someone who came off 2 huge wins like judah and mosley... i feel sorry for his fans honestly, it's not even gonna be a close one, no matter how u slice it... but goodluckk to him, i'm looking forward to it
