Yea its all Haglers fault he has a way better chin than Hearns... It's Haglers fault he was physically superior to Hearns in every which way.. Its Haglers fault Hears got a massage before their fight. Its all Haglers fault he was a way better all around fighter than Hearns.. And it was Haglers fault he stuck his head out there for Hearns to break his hand on it, LOL.. SERIOUSLY?? guess this is why they call these the dog days of summer, folks make up ridiculous threads like this out of boredom?? I wish to hell they would have fought again because Hagler would have knocked him cold again!!
Duran did fine at Middleweight. Extending Hagler the full 15 and beating a killer in prime Iran Barkley.
Of course he deserves massive credit. Both guys were pumped and at peak viciousness. In the battle between Hearns' right and Hagler 's chin, Hagler's chin broke Tommy's right. And aside from that big bomb from Hearns, in my opinion the fight was pretty much all Marvin. And I agree with the guy who said you can make a claim that Hagler never lost a fight. Every decision he did lose was highly questionable.
Not necessarily, I think the title is just poorly worded. The question whether an ATG career middleweight receives too much acclaim for blasting out an injured rising jr. middleweight/former welterweight who'd previously been knocked out by a smaller, lesser puncher seems fair to me.
Well, 1. Hearns wasn't injured until he hit Hagler. The injury apparently was caused by Hagler's head stopping one of Hearns' best shots, so all credit to Hagler. 2. Yes, Hearns had been KO'd once before, but in round 14, not round 3. It's a good result. 3. Hearns was a freak. He was world class in every division from 147 to 175. He's no ordinary "blown up welter" is he ? He was coming up from 154, true, but he had looked devastating there. Hagler was a middleweight, never more, never less. Muscular but not large-framed, I doubt he was even 5'9 tall like they said he was, he looks more like Duran's height. I think perhaps the problem with Hagler is that people don't give him enough credit for all the middleweights he beat. A lot of people only want to talk about "The Fab Four", and then find fault with the fact that Leonard, Hearns and Duran had started at lower weight divisions. But Hagler beat plenty of middles, and some middles who probably belonged at super-middle, but the 168 division had not been invented or commonplace then.
Hmm that must be why Hearns was knocked out in the 1st fight, cos he outboxed Leonard ???????? ummmmm ?????? what ??????
You can outbox someone and still get KO'd... Hearns and Leonard boxed 26 rounds and Hearns won the majority of those.
Hearns broke his hand by hitting Hagler full-power IN THE FACE. Hell, yeah Hagler deserves credit for beating Hearns. In fact, credit to Hearns too, he sucked up some big shots before going down. Not so glass-chinned in that one at all.
