First of all Marvin Hagler is undeniably a top ten ATG middleweight .
But how much if any, does his draw with limited Antuofermo ,and his underwhelming win over past prime, bluffing, and posturing Duran, hurt his all time standing?

Well anybody who knows the score knows Hagler was robbed in his first fight with Vito and beat him in the rematch.

I wouldn't exactly say a victory over Duran is damaging to his legacy, he gave Duran too much respect but beat him nethertheless.

No...he did win those fights ..
His only real loss was to SRL ( I scored 116-112 )

For me they definitely hurt him when envisioning H2H matchups. My knock on Hagler has always been that is does not adapt well during the course of a fight, certainly against better opponents. He's imo not the smartest ATG there's been. He was usually extremely effective in second outings.

Against Duran his tactics were way off for mine. He needed to be more aggressive and use his size to his advantage. I really do think he could have stopped Duran. Where was the Destruct and Destroy? A bit of self doubt?

Against SRL he was worse. Overconfident? Gun shy on the big stage? He was definitely psyched out in many ways, from coming out righty, getting caught up in the posturing and talking way more than usual etc etc. The little dance at the end after the bout was one of the strangest things i have seen in a ring and showed me the occasion really had got to him.

Monzon seldom looked as flash but was for me a much more in control fighter and more reliable in the bigger bouts. Much more adapable.

Put Marvin against lesser opposition and that skillset of his is going to obliterate them. Monzon would not do it as easily or impressively in this scenario, but when the tricky bouts come up he's absolute top shelf.

No , the Duran fight was a solid if not spectacular victory and was never at any point in the fight in doubt for me anyway . The first fight with Vito was clearly a win for hagler and was a career shaping episode in hagler's future mind set for future fights .

Only a little. Vito is underrated I think and had a great work rate and stamina. He'd be trouble for a lot more people than just Hagler.

Duran ... is Duran. Hagler may have fought cautiously but he still won. IIRC he said that you don't just go charging in against a guy like Duran. And I think he has a point. Duran was slick enough to pick apart a guy even in a wild brawl. Last thing Hagler needed was to get timed and dropped.

If these wins are his weakest moments, then what does it really say about Hagler? :hey

Antuofermo was champion of the world. And Hagler arguably beat him.
I thought he beat Duran clearly.

I thought he beat Leonard too, but that one DOES damage his legacy, or at least it certainly doesn't enhance it.

I don't know about the Antuofirmo fight. Vito was a good fighter and Marvin took care of him pretty decisively in the rematch.. Then went on to reigning for a long time. Duran probably gave him more problems than he should given the circumstances. Be he was also an ATG and the man who six years later would hammer the shlt out of Iran Barkley.

The Duran fight wasn't as close as people say. They're just giving Duran credit for not getting obliterated.

hagler said he learned a lot from the antufermo fight, can't criticise him because it was him stepping up and he did learn from it.

he beat duran, he was trying to beat duran, no problem there.

Neither fight did Marvin's legacy any harm. As has been oft mentioned, the draw against Vito was iffy and the Duran victory, even though no more than workmanlike, was clear. Nobody can pound out a Hearns fight blitz or a Sibson fight master class every time out.
