Burt, Welcome to ESB Classic. It's always an honor to see posts from guys who were around during the golden era.

I'd prefer to see Greb-Tunney 1 but would happily settle for one of his fights with Wilson or the 1st Norfolk fight, although from what I can gather he was at his best post-Norfolk once he had one eye.

I think tueWalker fight is the most likely, although that's like saying I'm more likely to meet JFK than I am Jesus

    I.e no f'n chance

Funny I have articles by legendary sports columnist Frank Graham where he also favors Greb over SRR and I do believe Graham wrote a book on Ruby Goldstein.

    Seriously, though

A case could be made for Phelps.

I might pick Lance Armstrong for individual sports.

Or Wayne Gretzky for team sports.

    :good

Being a limey it slightly pains me to say it, but Don was "The Don". If you want to argue who the greatest ever was, the first thing you have to do is demonstrate why it's not Bradman, IMO.

,Boilermaker, you are right in your choice of Bob Fitzimmons, as the most dominate boxer in history,NEXT to Harry Greb. Ruby Robert, as he was called at 160 to 170 pounds Ko,d top heavies who outweighed him by 30 to 40 lbs. He pulverized his much larger opponents in his prime...he was 34 years old when he ko,d Jim Corbett in 1897, and by that time old Fitz was going downhil. Probably the greatest puncher for his weight that ever lived by all accounts of the day.....I picked Harry Greb as my most dominate fighter, not only by beating, great and much heavier boxers, but Greb had 300 fights in his career, while Bob Fitzimmons @ 6ft.tall,had only 62 credited bouts...Big difference....

More importantly,is greb ahead of jesus, muhammed and buddha as the most influential human being of all times?
And how close is this new boy obambi? He looks like a bulldog man...

No,seriously, greb has the best resume in boxing history, and i think he does have a case in one of the hardest sports no less...

Edwin 'corley' moses had a 122 race unbeaten streak of ten years in the 400m hurdles, broke the world record several times (it was eventually broken by kevin young, but morley still own many of the fastest times.)
He won olympic and world championship gold as well.

There are so many gems in his record, but has anyone else noticed that his win over Tunney on 5/23/22 came just after his 5/12/22 win over Al Roberts (175 lbs & 18 & 5 at the time).
