Ive heard some Pac fans talking about how Collazo and Urango were able to give him trouble and I also reviewed the Collazo fight last night but pacman cannot take the same approach. Collazo is a very good inside fighter and he's alot more crafty than people give him credit for. Pacman is nothing like him.. He often struggles on the inside and he's not crafty at all. Plus Collazo was a natural welterweight and urango is also much physically stronger than pacman.. Pac isn't capable of pushing hatton around like that.. Does hatton have problems with southpaws?
He's never lost them as a pro, but always had a torrid fight with them. jurgen brahemer knocked him out as an amateur - a big southpaw.
Yes! For 2 Major Reasons 1. He has t-rex arms and his straight right hand is THE WORST among all "top fighters", THE WORST, the punch is awful. Even the one that hurt Malignaggi was horribly thrown. The straight right, if you dont know, is the #1 weapon against South paws. 2. Hatton likes to angle off, and jump to the left with his jab. Very effective against conventional standing fighters. You move right into a right hook if you do it against fast south paws though. Look for Manny to counter the **** out of Ricky's jab with his right hook and then follow that up with straight left hands.
yes finito i've been telling you about this southpaw issue. pac may not be physically stronger than the two but he's faster. this is the impending doom for hatton. speed kills.
Speed is great but that isn't everything. Timing beats speed although hatton doesn't have the greatest sense of timing.. however he's very good at cutting off the ring and that might disrupt Pacman's rhythm.. What happens then?
Probably the tightest analysis of the attack/counterattack we can expect in this fight. Hatton's straight right? Couldn't agree more - it hardly exists.....
Hatton's straight right isn't the best but he did hurt malignaggi more than once with it.. more like a clubbing right hand but it was affective.
Many a fighter would struggle with Luis Collazo. Plus that was at 147 where he's struggled every time. I didn't see any real struggles with Urango. But he's a beast at 140, Hatton boxed well and the only struggles you can highlight were perhaps in the latter rounds when he started to trade a bit. Eamonn Magee put him down but that was early in his career during the WBU reign, or maybe it was before that I can't remember.
No he doesnt IMO, look there is only one fighter that found a way to beat him Floyd Jr and in his prime at that, so its really not a bad loss at all. When you look at the names on his resume, sure they dont add up to the MABs the JMMs or the DLHs and Morales's of the world but when you look Urango Tszysu Mallanagi Collazo you have three guys right there Urango, Paulie and Collazo who are all very solid young fighters that Ricky beat in their prime while Pacquiao was living off of fighting guys who were clearly past their best days. I think this is going to serve Hatton in his fight with Pacquiao and if you look at the last fight he did have with Sr two things happend, Ricky did not get hit as much as we are used to seeing, and with a guy who has quick hands thats not bad at all, but Ricky also stopped this man, this is something Cotto didnt do, and to be honest with you Ricky did a better job against Paulie than Cotto himself did who fought a great fight but it was very close. I think Ricky has learned some new tricks with Sr and it showed a bit in the last fight I expect it to show even more so on Saturday.
No matter how much you try to explain it away, the basic truth is that Hatton has problems with southpaws. And now, all of a sudden, he's going to thrive against the best southpaw on the planet? Ridiculous.
